As BARF enters our 16th year of existence I thought I would throw out the thought to all members on what their expectations of barf are.
First what I see.
We
....Ride
....get dirty!!
....share our lives
....support our sport
....fight for our rights
....influence the decision makers
.... inform, share, and are better because of the collective
....Love our heroes
....teach each other
....try to represent
....help each other
....celebrate our valued members
**EDIT __ We just became a member of the National Association of State Motorcycle Safety Administrators ***
And so much more I should just say weeeeeeeee :ride arty
I wrote this a while ago. Nothing of real substance has changed over those seven years or has it?. I believe All those ideals and goals have been met, yet I am sure we left some things behind because that is the nature of life.
Barfers are living and loving and crying through the year. We have a few brothers and sisters out there challenged every day. My heart goes out to our family that has been hurt and are dealing with things that I take for granted whatever the reason. Our humanity is represented in the E autobiography we are writing. We are writing it together because we ride.
I am so very grateful to be sharing that with you. Sappy huh?
BARF actually continues to morph.
• We privatized the political banter.
• We opened a Women only Forum.
• BARF yellow pages
We saw a little love for our mission here when the AMA’s Michael Sayre pointed to BARF as a unifying body in the Bay Area as a positive example.
About 2/3 down in the article in the section called “MAC's mission: Focus on infrastructure” under his picture.
Lane Splitting:
We celebrated our influence and success with a party when AB51 fully codified Lane Splitting. That was a seven year journey from the Dub Dub Dub post, but it is done except for the official State Guidelines.
I got impatient and some barf veterans helped create our own.
OHV Access:
CORVA recognized BARF has a player in the State on Off Road issues. We are still in the fight with them for the Carnegie expansion effort.
We felt for our lost warrior Nicky Hayden and created [url=http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=515643&highlight=Nicky+Hayden] Nicky memorial shirts to donate to his Foundation.
That is almost done... can't wait to do the books and send a check on. BARF already donated $1,000 and thanks to Diego presented Roger Lee a full size copy of the painting. He also helped save the day on the shirts. Thanks man.
Personal:
I got some nice props here: AMA Road Rider of the Year
Riders Training:
We recently sent in 10 proposals to the CHP on how to make the CMSP Training more successful and make use of “our” money to do it. It was great to have City Bike organize a ride to the last CMSP meeting. The CHP is noticing the uptick in people paying attention. :cool
We saw a Dad reach out for a female rider to help his daughter learn to ride. The barf reach out was awesome. :thumbup
Barf is recognized by the State, the AMA, other Motorcycle entities and most importantly by me, as holding value and worth working it, to move things forward. When I attend State meetings I have become proud of hearing “You’re from BARF?”
That took a while :laughing
As always thanks to the Mod Core for their great benefit to our community. It is because of your effort (past and present) that has made barf a different sort of moto website. Thanks to our sponsors as well. Your support keeps us rolling on.
Here we are 2018.
Another year to find smiles with our miles, good times with families or friends or maybe to struggle with life, but having some two wheel family to share it with.
Last year I did a large thread capturing our first 15 years.. I had a good time pulling back up memories from that decade and a half.
We are still trying to upgrade the site.
• Make it more secure
• Auto resize of photo’s (God help me please!)
We will keep at it.
So.... what do you see as the ups and downs of the little spot on the net. What in your opinion should we focused on, do better or just say WTF and leave alone.
Thanks in advance, keep it safe out there tomorrow and Happy New Year. arty
My very best to you all in 2018 for good things in life and riding.
