Not a day off for me.

I do wish all those that have the day off to enjoy it!!

...and thanks Dr. King for being such a great ambassador of freedom and civil rights to the future generations in this country and beyond. :rip

Without turning this into a racial thread, it burns me to no end that everything shuts down for this. Yet Veterans Day passes with nary a notice. Everything's open. Go about your day. Disgusting.

Why do you hate capitalism, bro?

Veterans Day is a federal holiday. Just like anything else, pretty much all of it is shut down.

And passes without nary a notice? HAHAH GTFO here.

This country has a such a hard-on for vets and military we have jets fly over dumb football games.

The state of slavery is of such a nature that it is incapable of being introduced on any reasons, moral or political, but only by positive law [statute], which preserves its force long after the reasons, occasions, and time itself from whence it was created, is erased from memory. It is so odious, that nothing can be suffered to support it, but positive law. Whatever inconveniences, therefore, may follow from the decision, I cannot say this case is allowed or approved by the law of England; and therefore the black must be discharged.[1]

Some historians believe the case contributed to increasing colonial support for separatism in the Thirteen Colonies of British North America, by parties on both sides of the slavery question who wanted to establish independent government and law.[2] The southern colonies wanted to protect slavery and expanded its territory dramatically in the decades after independence was won.[3][4]

Tux getting this thread moved to the politics forum

What's shut down today? My trash got collected (that didn't happen on Christmas or New Year's Day) I shopped for groceries and got some takeout.

I'm grateful to have the day off to spend with my family on a day worth celebrating. I don't have any personal ties to veterans day, but I have many friends who served. I get that day off, too, and make sure to thank those who served.
