Why do cruiser riders like such thick hand grips?
If it’s comfort, do any sport, sporttouring, or adventure bikes do this?
Contrarily, do any cruiser riders like sporty grips?
Thicker grips usually minimizes vibration through the handlebar. Also depending on your hand ergos, it can put less strain on your hands. I put thicker sponge covers on my FZ1, just feels more substantial.
ProGrip 714 on every bike I own... Sportbikes, dirt bikes, supermoto, whatever. Not a fan of super thin and hard stuff. The 714 is slightly thicker and has a little more cushion, but not overly large. Perfect grip IMO.

I'm thinking fat grips are more comfortable to hold the throttle open steadily over long distance while cruising, and thin grips are easier to grip at an angle like a screwdriver while cornering for sport riding.
I thought I didn't care about thicker grips, but I tried grip puppies once, and became a fan. The 1/4" increase made throttle control easier for commuting.
I like thinner grips, I used to use nothing but Scott Slim Grips, but they don't make them any more (I haven't seen them anyway), I don't have very large hands, and I get a better grip. But they tear easily and need to be replaces more often.
