Guess someone was tired of the rain

Because I came out this morning to find my bike without it's cover. Between this, having it knocked over, and parking tickets, the 50 a month spot 4 block from my apartment is looking pretty tempting. Somewhere there had better be a toasty dry homeless person.

Be Here Now
I have twice found my cover gone... gotten all pissed, left for work and found it 4 or 5 houses down blown under a vehicle.

Since then I always throw a small bungee through the wheel to atleast keep it attached to the bike if it gets blown off.

Took all of seven seconds to Google this. Stop by your local Cycle Gear...I've picked up two of them.

It definitely didn't blow off, it had bungees built in. In fact I avoided a parking ticket once because it was too hard for the lazy parking nazi to take off. I could lock a new cover on, but I think I am at the point where I'm tired of people messing with my bike. If I can find a reasonable garage space I'll go for it.

Why are you covering your bike? I understand you don't want to get it wet but even though the water isn't hitting it the fog is and that fog is doing more damage to your bike with it's salt content then the rain ever will. I am just saying this because I to used to use a cover on my bike till I saw what was going on under the fairings in the "dry" places. Since then I haven't used my cover and my neighbors bike has been "blown over" in the freak winds we get sometimes in SF. You are gonna do what you gotta do but it is SF and if you want something nice you need to secure it in a box like a garage.

Not much fog in lower hayes, but yeah my old bike got eaten alive out in western addition. The cover it partially to keep the rain a soot off (I live right off fell and when I leave it uncovered I have to dust the seat off in the morning), and partially to make the bike less attractive to those who might want to mess with it or steal it. A garage is probably where I am headed though.

Get the garage. It is worth every penny. Honestly leaving your bike on the street anywhere in SF is just waiting for disaster. I finally got mine the 4th time my bike got knocked over.

yep, a bunch of roomies going in on a big house w/2-3 car garage works really great. PLUS you got someone to help you wrench, or take you to the races.

Yea that nice hill stops a lot of the fog. I am at the cut off point, Hayes and Central. I love me some gaunlet aka fell/oak street.
