Not impressed with those numbers, 3700lbs is a pig. If anything, for another 17k you could have the Vette Z06.

Of course, this is just speculation based on the numbers and trusting R&T that they aren't "sponsored" by Ford.

Weird selection of cars and price ranges to compare against. Nobody is going to cross-shop a Mustang and a Bentley.

BTW shouldn't it be named the GT315R? Because that's what the displacement actually is. :dunno

Hard to believe cars are doing 0-60 in 3 secs, thats liter bike times.
The Ferrari is impressive as you would expect.
A Mustang winning a performance comparison that includes a 488 whats up with that. Someone was handed a bag of dough.

This is probably the most misleading stat about cars. 5-60 takes much longer for a car because the algorithm isn't worked out for a rolling start. That's also with all the launch controls and what not.

Much longer than 0-60 or much longer than compared to a liter bike. I'm not sure what you're saying. If it's the former I have since serious doubts, if it's the later that's not hard to believe at all. Launching a bike is difficult to most.

Decades ago I drove Roush Mustangs around Sear Point during Bondurant training; it was a hoot.

The GT350r would likely be vastly more fun.

Go read your history books, bro. The original GT350 didn't have a 350ci engine. And the GT500 did not have a 500ci engine. Nor did the GT40 have a 40ci engine. :twofinger

It may not be the fastest around the track, may not have the most bells and whistles, and for sure doesn't drop the most panties. But I bet driving that Ford is just all kinds of fun. The sounds a car makes goes a long way with most car enthusiasts. This is why so many idiots believed (and some still do today) that a cold air intake added 30hp to their Integra or whatever. Actual scientific measuring tools said numbers much much less, but to their ears and ego that car was ready to go out and take on everyone. And that's what that Ford does. Yeah 526hp is certainly a lot...but not in that company. But the experience of that 526hp just tickled the boy racer hearts in those reviewers enough to vote for it.

In some ways, I actually enjoyed romping on the C5 Z06 more than the C6 Z06 because the old car felt and sounded more "raw" than the C6.

Ford Fiesta you mean? :laughing

The Ferrari 488 GTB base price: $245,400

Price as Tested: $347,942

I guess they opted for cup holders and floor mats.

I think the justification is that the Mustang is way above it's weight class. It's a car that starts under 65 grand that beat out others that were vastly more expensive, and it's easier to live with.

That being said, I would take a viper over the stang 8 times out of 10.

If you don't like cars, why did you post? 8200 rpm V8. What's not to like?

Mad much? Where in my post did I say that I didn't like cars? I'm sure it's a great car, but I'm not overly impressed with those numbers. 12.3 E/T? A regular C5 vette can produce those times.

For another $17k, I'd take the C7 Z06.
