Tales of yester-years: I once or twice owned GSXR750's over the years and always like the balance of power character it offered... fast enough, I'd label it. As I once saw 181mph on the speedo of my 2001 GSXR750. But, the reason I ultimately got rid of the bike was because it had annoying low rpm vibration that numbed my hands in "traffic" type riding. My question is do the current generation I4 engines do this (600, 750 or 1000?)? Also, I recall that the GSXR750's had a "balance shaft" in the engines for some time... after the 2001-2 model years. Do they still have a balance shaft? Does it help quill vibes? Also, the 1000's had or have a balance shaft... I don't see current specs. of the bike listing any mention of a balance shaft in the 1000?... Is there one?

Curious ... possibly a shopper...

(Maybe, I should head over to the GSXR forum with this)

yes 05 GSXR 1k for the liter choice and 06/07 GSXR 750 for all out raw unadulterated fun! I've had both and both were built like an ax, at the end of the day it depends what you want and what power you need. feel free to pm me with any questions, I'm a loyal GSXR lover!

WTF LOL
I always ran heavier bar-ends and higher bars on my street/touring GSXRs.
Taking some weight off your hands and quelling the vibes with Throttlemeisters or Busa bar ends makes a big diff when your stuck in traffic at low rpm for long periods of time and, also on those 5-600 mile "sport-touring" day rides ... :ride Thats the only time I ever even noticed they vibrate, otherwise they are very smooth.
All 1Ks have counter-balancers. Only 06 lol and up 750s do.
The newer ones continue to get better(and smoother-all around) with each model-year upgrade... for street/road use, the 1Ks have always pretty much made the 750 obsolete. They don't really give up anything in terms of user-friendliness or handling yet have alot more to offer. 2012/13 1Ks are very nice and much improved over 09-11. If you never had a 1K, you're missing out! :party

Did you ever get the TB's synched?

And yeah, the 750 is basically a 600 on steroids. :p It's gonna' be a tad on the buzzy side.

Yes! I have both and love them both (even though my 750 motor got raped by a thrown chain)

I have an 07 1000 and it's amazing. However I think the 05 was the best all around year. Great motor and riding position.

But I love my bike. I regularly do 250+ mile days on it and never have issues.

Tons of power everywhere. No buzz to speak of.

What bars did you run? I am in the market for them on my 2003 GSXR 600.

TIA!

if your only set on gsxr's get an 05 gsxr 1000 and all your troubles will be solved...

Brilliant, really.

05 GSXR 1000, great frame - great motor, tons of parts, cheap bike to find.

08 GSXR 1000, better frame - some people argue the 05 motor is better. Still tons of parts, cheap bike to find

2009 + GSXR 1000, stiff frame (awesome for racing), motor must be ridden like crack head (awesome for racing).

I've ridden all 3, raced the 08 & a 2011, 08 is my favorite, 2011 is my fastest. Both bikes are as smooth as my 05 R1 street bike, the GSXR's have way better power delivery than that particular bike.

The 08 & 2009 + GSXR 1000's also have the mode switch which works awesome. Don't know about the other models (don't remember about the 05/06 GSXR 1000). Mode switch allows you to de-tune the power of the bike when necessary.

I'd find a nice 05/06 or 07/08 GSXR 1000 and be done.

Cheers!
