Hello again friends! :party

Used to be a regular on BARF back in the day, then sold the bike, went back to college (Chico State) and graduated in December with a degree in CIS.

Got a job down here in Austin [:wtf] (I know), and today completed the 1st half of the MSF course to get my MC license again. Going back tomorrow morning for the 2nd day of riding and was wondering how to go about maybe adding a TX regional forum? :teeth

Anyway.... traffic here sucks, no lane splitting, and from what I hear, come summer, I'm going to want to ride shirtless and helmetless due to the heat/humidity. :x

I've got my eye on a Honda 919 which has been languishing on craigslist for over a month. If it's still around in a couple weeks, I might swoop in and make an offer.

New apartment has a garage, and I'm hankering to fill it. :thumbup

So what you're saying is you're going to be hosting a barf COTA party for those of us who want to go out there? :D

Welcome back!

I've visited Austin a couple times. Went to that bridge in the middle of town last year hoping to see the bats, but the locals said their season had already ended.
6th street was a good time. Is that the one? 6th?

This way...That way...
I didn't even want to come to Austin. :(

Pretty good riding in the spring time in the Hill Country just west of you.
Have you been out there?
Been awhile since I've been in Texas, but I enjoyed parts of it quite a bit.

Greetings from Texas

Patrick,

Hey, you are in probably the Best Place in Texas, Be Happy, Austin is great in many regards. Music , Cycling and more .

Get yourself a Bicycle !

Austin is a Great place to ride a bike.
and
If you like riding Mountain Bikes on Single Track, ( and who would not ? Really ? )

Go over to Warda Tx. a little less than one hour due East of Austin
There is a Private Ranch there, 20 mile or more now of Single Track :thumbup
I think it is $ 6 to ride all day, and another $ 5 to camp , great camping there at the Private lake. There are Great people there , and 2 or more Regional MTB Races per year.

For Motorcycling take long weekends and go up to Colorado .

Austin, why is it in Texas? I know of two BARFers (well one BARFer and one BARFette) in Austin.

lionserpent? and what was Gina"s user id?

Rides every day
Welcome back to riding.

For the summer heat I suggest getting some LDComfort underwear. Get it wet with cold water, suit up in textiles, be totally comfortable in 100+ degree heat. Get the beenie too, it will keep your noggin chilly.

Get a cruiser, put your feet up and show off them arm tattoo's.

Come on. You know you want to.

The weather can be challenging but the chili and the people there are great. I grew up in the Fort Worth area and I still have lots of family and friends there. I second checking out the Texas hill country; some pretty good roads. I'll be in San Antonio tomorrow for some work then dropping by Austin, Dallas and Houston.

Austin has better riding than Dallas and Houston...and they've got COTA. I'd recommend joining one of the Motorsport Ranch Country clubs (I did when I lived in Dallas) to keep yourself sane. Or, get into Spec Miata and club race...it's cheap as dirt out there to race.

Oh god, the bikes at the MSF course were these Kawi Eliminator 125s.... little baby cruisers with forward foot pegs/controls. So uncomfortable.

2003 919 w/ 24k miles. $3300.

Guy says it's mechanically sound, Yosh pipes, Power Commander, <1k miles on new tires. Says he *thinks* it's been plasti-dipped (or else it was repainted).
Clean title.

And the red calipers means it MUST stop well. :teeth

Is it just me, or is that front tire mounted backwards?

Or maybe the wheel itself.

Did you buy it?

Not yet... just found it this afternoon. Will need to think about it some more. Maybe next weekend.
(all the pics above are from the craigslist ad)

$3k is a lot of money.

Also sent a PM to wackyiraqi to ask his advice on 919s.
