Check this out over on ADVrider.

Gal rider soloing VA to Alaska, on an 80s Yamaha Radian, in honor of her brother - awesome writer and adventures; she really takes the reader along for the trip :ride:thumbup :thumbup

Thanks (or blame...did not get much done for last few days :teeth) to Rodr for pointing this out :twofinger

Love that kind of stuff--a gal alone on a thousand-dollar bike and her love for her bro, tearing up the highway all the way to Alaska and home again. That's some good readin'. :thumbup

For a second there Tim, I thought you'd run off to Alaska without telling us. :laughing

But yeah, I really like ride reports about solo adventures like that. Something about a woman doing it makes it extra cool.

Exactly! Like a good scotch, cigar or book, it needs to be savored:thumbup

My favorite quote, after a stupid teenager made a rude remark, "I wanted to punch the little fucker" :twofinger

:thumbup Ruffntuff has some with real depth alright :thumbup

I liked, One shouldn't let fear stop them from living, because no one knows, how long one will live.

And...what she said about inner strength/confidence...it was so the same as early American Indian culture..sending the young boy out with just a knife, to prove themselves, facing the un-known, relying on their own self...and when the test period was over, returning a Brave Man.

And...all her references to value-ing her time alone...on the road.

I'm only half way through...she has her new chain on, and Denali National park is next stop. :)

I like the way she doesn't gloss over the difficult experiences and emotions of an adventure trip, while still communicating the intense worthwhile-ness of it.

^^^ Yes Anna had me, with the pictures of the Snow frosted Rockies, and forecast of falling temps, as she pressed on, into them, and the road work with gravel, she pressed on past the sign that advised Motorcycles to turn back/detour..

Course the sign could of said...If You're going to Alaska, Your going to need this :ride experience :laughing

She sure learned a lot..hope she "upgrades" her gear, after getting back home...and heads out again...to our Western USA to keep that feeling she got, building. :thumbup

Oh man, she leaves us hanging again. :laughing

Getting off the ferry hungover with one hour of sleep did not feel good.
It was going to be a long ride. And, it was raining.
