GoPro mounting ideas and/or options

Years ago ....n 2009, I mounted my HERO 1 in its plastic case then onto a auction cup arm attached to my tank. It worked fine. I had the view of my dash and out the windscreen.

Well, I need a new setup. My camera is the original GoPro from around 2005.

What do you folks recommend? What is your setup? I don't need the latest GoPro model but it's not out of the question.

I've seen few different designs. The Hero 5, Sessions and Action Streaming?

Thanks!

Miguel

I have a Hero5 and a Hero7 Black. The 5 is slow to respond making it too annoying to use. The 7 Black is snappy, better interface, and just superior overall. You can find used ones for under $200.

I have mounts all over my bike from testing. In the end I use my helmet mount 95% of the time and my left rearview mirror the other 5%. To mitigate wind noise glued faux fur to all 6 sides of the camera frame. It looks ridiculous but makes audio usable.

This video has audio quality at various wind speeds. It's not perfect but magnitudes better than no wind diffuser.

Great tips. Thanks.

The Mike on Bikes YouTube channel has a few videos that address your question:

Thank you!

Miguel, Hit up Robert Brittain off FB. He's got great camera angles.

Thanks!

I use gopro 8 cameras as my helmet cam, handlebar cam, and rear cam on my FZ10.

I didnt want to go below 8 because of stabilization: even vs gopro 7 the 8 wins by a lot. and as we all know the shakiness is one of the most important factors that kills the quality.

here's a vid of what that looks and sounds like:

I agree with the Hero 8 because of the superior stabilization. There's nothing worse than to try watching an a action video that's shot with poor stabilization, or none at all.
Go on YouTube and watch some comparison videos between the GoPro 8 and other cameras. The 7 is close and may be good enough but the iterations below the 7 are bouncy and hard to watch after a short while.
