just got a Harley nightster and i want to get the bars changed id rather have someone who knows this stuff do it , im a little bit scared to do it because you may need to lengthen lines or bend some lines

dealer is trying to charge 5 hours laber which im guessing is going to be a good 500bux or more, i know of sportbike shops but since this is my first Harley i dont know much about any good independent shops

Depending on the type and height of the bars, that may be a relatively extensive (and potentially expensive) undertaking. You're probably looking at purchasing new throttle cables, brake lines and clutch cables, as well as extending all the wiring for your headlights, turn signals, horn and engine start/stop switches.

As said here, if you are going significantly taller it's a big job. Even low/flat can require cable changes. Save old parts-ALL OF THEM. With a quote of 5hrs, it sounds as if cables will be needed. You may want to live with them the way they are, and acquire the parts needed slowly. On your own, you may find that 5 hrs was a bargain! Oh and $500 will cover the labor but not much of the parts, so add a bit more for those.

I dont think so unless you are switching to 7/8 bars. Are you switching to apes or drag bars?
clip ons? you have a pic of the new handlebar?

It looks like the bars you picked may require more work than it's worth. People do it all the time but you might have 800 bucks into the job when you are done, maybe more. But it's just a guess. If the cable length is the same, it's not a big deal.

H&K cycles in Livermore. The owned is a great guy and family man. Honest and respectable. I'd go there for anything I need for my dyna.

if they 1 inch diameter you can use your stock risers. frisco bars are taller than stock though so you might need new cables. I went with the biltwell tracker bars. lower and wider. check out xlforums.com. on biltwell's website it says no cable change.

IMO....dont mess with it...you will just end up with more headaches and less handling control.....Just my 02 cents....:cool
