Diatomaceous earth. A healthy dusting kills most things with that have exoskeletons. You can use nematodes in the grass/lawn/dirt area near your house to kill them early. When you or your pet walk through grass, they jump and attach themselves.

Diatomaceous earth does work.

Borax also works. Borax Can be purchased at your local dollar store as ant and roach powder.

Borax is a white powder and works the same way as diatomaceous earth: the bugs inhale it and it dries out their lungs.

I wouldn't use borax. It's not as safe around pets/kids as diatomaceous earth. There are people who question how safe it is, but there's an agreement that is still toxic. However, diatomaceous earth is completely non-toxic.

Boric acid will kill flea eggs, DE will not. Nematodes will kill larveas. You may have to use a combination of the above to achieve your goal.

My experience with diatomaceous earth was great. My old dog got covered with fleas in her last months. My youngest son was about 6 months old and was getting eaten alive, scores of bites all the time. This stuff dries everything out, including the eggs. Relief in a few days.

not toxic, but isn't diatomaceous earth bad if you inhale it?

Sure, as are most microscopic particles that can be carried by air currents. Same goes with powdered sugar, all purpose flour, woodworking dust, etc. I mean water isn’t toxic, but when it is in the lungs it can be (pneumonia).

Where I was getting at is that they actually have food grade DE, it’s not toxic to the body when consumed, comes out the same as it went in, and doesn’t enter the bloodstream. It also doesn’t absorb through the skin. It’s like eating or playing with sand, if you will.
