Don’t need the bench but have a question- I assume you have a Bowflex home gym. What do you think about it? Would buy one again or go with something more traditional? I’m looking at a Marcy 998 which is a 150 pound home gym system but the Bowflex has always intrigued me.
Bowflex was okay to start with, saves space and has multiple exercises. As you progress, you have to either purchase / upgrade the rods to increase resistance. The resistant rods are in a "fixed" plane of movement and changes resistance as it moves both concentric and eccentric movements (like having a spotter). In comparison, free weights- it's just you and the weights. In the long run, I wasn't able to apply proper bio mechanics and techniques that I wanted to work on. After a few months, I went more traditional and got a squat rack, barbell, plates. Overtime ( 8 years now) I don't regret investing in my rack and plates.
I say, depends on your goal. If you are just starting out or just want to do high reps and low weights then Bowflex. But... Your muscles and CNS (central nervous system) will quickly adapt to movement 4-6 weeks. You then either purchase more rods, change the tempo of your workout, etc to get some "gains."
Or if you are focusing more on the big 4 and long term: Squat, Deadlift, OH press, Bench- then go traditional.
