Dreaming about trading in my M3 for a smaller, 4 door hatch. I don't care about VW scandal, resale, or anything with two doors (I've got a 6 and 8 year old). It's got to be super fun to drive and have a manual transmission. I likely won't mod it and likely will take it to the track once a year. I've only put 10,000 miles on the M3 since I bought it 3 years ago to give some idea of mileage use.

Budget is less than $50,000.

What would you get?:confused

Sti or Focus. Golf is the slowest and most problematic by far. The Focus will be a collector car eventually too I think here in teh states.

VW interior shits all over the others, and is better for long trips.

STI has that dumb rear wing, and harsh ride.

Focus ST/RS has teenager seats, and you see them every day.

An autocross friend of mine LOVES his Focus ST. You could step up to the RS in 2016, or just buy the ST, upgrade shocks, wheels, and tires, and still have a bunch of money left over for track days.

Yea Subaru interior leaves a lot to be desired, just picked up an impreza for the wife (non wrx). Focus felt a lot smaller (non RS). Didn't drive any VWs. Just go test drive them all, it's $50,000. Taking a day every 3 years to get the vehicle you want to sit in for the next 3 years doesn't sound unreasonable.

Doesn't really care
The manual option is still on their site. I remember looking a while ago and seeing a couple of cars in their local inventory with manuals but can't find any now. I guess they aren't very popular. :|

Still on the site but since they stopped production because they discontinued them you can't get it. I had paper work signed on one till they said I couldn't get it. Whatever is on the lots is it.

+1 on what he said^^^ The Ford interior feels cheap and Scooby is way too plastic.

If it's gonna be a daily driver, I had zero issues with the GTI version.

I'd get a Chevy SS 6MT for $46k and call it a day. V8 instead of a turbo 4 and sleeper looks instead of looking like a boy racer (and this is coming from a guy with a riced out Miata).

Seems pretty pointless to trade in an M3 for a Chevy SS or used CTS-V. GTI interiors are pretty nice but I've always wanted a Focus RS and don't have dual citizenship in Mexico(only way I've seen them in the US) so I'd go with that for fanboy reasons. Whatever you buy OP, post pics.

Has bad taste
The STI interior has been improved substantially in the last few years.

On paper, the RS stands out but I'm a little concerned about the tranny/diff holding up. Honestly, I would let others "beta" the new car's durability first.

I guarantee it's stronger than anything put into a STI, R, Evo, or anything else awd.
