Lanesharing is caring
I hope that this thread will not just be about me, but help encourage others to share their 'hooray I'm better!' stories and be a light at the end of the tunnel for those who are still healing (and not to rub it in their faces ).
I'm proud to say that 7 weeks after accidentally going deer-hunting with my bike, I slung a leg over and started commuting on two wheels again. Despite breaking my clavicle I've had no pain or reduced ROM so it wasn't the riding part I was apprehensive about, just the stopping part (since my crash squished my right foot I was worried if it would hold up the bike). I'm happy to report that all body parts functioned perfectly and the only negative part was finding out how out-of-shape I've gotten (my new leather overpants are not very forgiving on my waistline). More motivation to get back in shape and enjoy the winter!
Day 0 - crash :mstingray
Day 1.5 - clavicle repair surgery, rent wheelchair
Day 5 - arm feels awesome again
Day 8 - doctor says, 'you'd better not be thinking about riding right away'
Day 35 - doctor gives the ok to start using full ROM for the arm; start walking again with a ankle brace/compression cuff
Day 38 - start PT for the ankle, walking without the ankle brace
Day 40 - new riding pants come
Day 49 - enjoying riding again! arty
