... the cam-chain tensioner on the KLR
is like the one you're used to seeing
on your DR ... it's an automatic plunger-style
device can be seen on the front of the cylinder ...
the doohicky hides under one of the engine covers ...

OP: congrats on your purchase, I've loved my KLRs ...
... all my KLRs get a bash-plate because I ride it quite
a bit on the fire roads in Death Valley and the Sierras ...
other than that I leave them pretty stock ... well OK,
I run one-tooth smaller front sprocket and DOT knobbies,
and there's a "T" mod I do to the carb vent
so it won't stall in water crossings ...
so I guess what mods are good for you depend on where
you'll be riding it ...? :thumbup
