Gas along Highway 36

Since the Wildwood store closed burned down a couple of years ago, is the Platina store the only gas stop across Highway 36 now? A Google search doesn't show gas at the Dinsmore Store in Bridgeville any more...

I can make it across on a tank of gas if I don't go nuts... but I'd rather get gas along the way if I can.

Taze away, Yana...
If you get gas in Redbluff it's only about 85 miles to 101. If you are worried, you can turn up 3 into Hayfork (about 18 miles) to grab gas half way.

What bike are you running that can't go 85 miles full out?

I rode 36 2 weeks ago. There were 2 opportunities for fuel. Wasn't paying attention to the town names.

Yeah, the 2 places would be the Dinsmore store in Bridgeville and the Platina General Store in Platina.... thanks! :) Needed to confirm that those 2 were still good...

What time warp do you go through to get across 140 miles of road in only 85? :laughing

From the 76 in Fortuna to the Chevron in Red Bluff is 141 miles according to Google Maps...

Ha! I didn't actually look, I was just going off how much gas I had left in my tank. When you said it was 141 miles I was like, "impossible! I only get 100 miles to a tank full out." That's when I remembered I put an oversized gas tank on my bike at the beginning of the season...

Are you just Turing around, or do you have a loop planned?

Coming from the coast I went about 30 miles in, got fuel, then went to hayfork, because that road is fun. Then over to Red bluff.

:rofl you and your fancy gas tanks...

Thinking of heading across to get to the Meat Up...

Last time I went across Highway 36 was back in 2012... I got gas at Wildwood... I was riding with Banjoboy & The Smokester that time. :) We started from Red Bluff but cut down through Van Duzen Road just past Mad River to 101S.

Sweet! I decided to ditch SMUSA for this weekend. I hear they have a few really fun rides planned on the west side too. Lots if fun stuff on the 70/89/32 if you are up for it. What are you riding up?

Are you heading down VD on your way back?

Thinking of 36W-3N-96S-299E for Saturday, I've been wanting to try 3 and 96 for a while now, so this might be the weekend for it. :)

VD was fun, but now sure if I want to go again. The ride home on Sunday may just be slabbing down 5 after watching AFM for a bit. We'll see I have no real plans for Sunday yet.

That's what I thought too... Google Maps gives the address as:

Dinsmore Store
43819 CA-36
Bridgeville, CA 95526

Google Maps be cray-cray. :laughing

3N and 96 are a blast. 299 has a f-ton of construction going on right now... Single lane, and flaggers for about 20 miles into Whiskey Town (they are taking out the fun bits and adding straightness). Might be fine on the weekend, but the roads are covered in gravel. If you run it, just be carful.

If you do go that route, and still feel frisky, take 44E (not epic) to 89S (sweet sweepers) and over to 32W (EPIC) back down to the back side of 99N to the party.

Are you on an SM?

When you riding out Ho Ho.

Was not thinking much riding, but this sounds enticing. Def will slab with you on the way home.

Slab... yuck.

Early Friday morning... going to Corning is probably going to be something like this:

Saturday is looking like the 36/3/96/299 loop. Still trying to refine the route, but that's the gist of it.

Sunday is I5 to AFM then slab home. :loco Although, I could be tempted to go through Clearlake and that area to avoid fully slabbing... :)
