    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.

For sale is a 2001 GSXR 1000. It is a 2 owner bike with a salvage title. Service is current and mileage is less than 6700. Salvage title is due to prior owners mishap and it has been ridden and tracked since-no known issues. Many upgraded performance parts. Located in Seattle, can be shipped easily and inexpensively.

It has the following:

-Oz Wheels
-Brake Tech rotors with Brembo 4 piston calipers on Yoyodyne adapters with nearly new track pads
-Stainless front brake lines with fresh fluid throughout
-Good Pirelli tires with less than 600 miles on them
-Vortex rearsets
-New frame sliders
-Circuit 1 case savers
-Ohlins steering damper
-Billet triple clamps
-Woodcraft clip-ons
-Front forks service w/ springs for 200 lb rider-work done by GP Suspension
-Rear shock is Circuit One re-valved stock shock. It works fine but it could use a service and re-spring. It is currently set up for 200 lb rider but could use a different spring if it is going to be ridden hard.
-Tinted windscreen
-Fresh oil and filter
-Full Akropovic exhaust system with a re-flashed ECU - tuned by 2 Wheel DynoWorks
-Woodcraft clip-ons
-Carbon tail and carbon air intakes
-Full set of beat-up but fixable/useable track plastics with windscreen
-All lights and gauges work
-rear seat and passenger footpegs-no street tail section
-Spare brake pads, oil filter and full manual included
-Street plastics are chinese re-productions
-Fuel tank is stock without any repairs done to it. It has a couple dings and one dent. Looks good but it is not perfect. No rust or corrosion inside.
-This is a nice bike with lots of dings, nicks, scratches. It is not perfect but it is a great bike

Just a heads up, but that bike can't be registered in CA since it has under 7,500 miles on it.

A buyer could ride it back and then do a little extra riding around here and it would be fine though.

I need to do more googling, this is a weird law i haven't heard of before. However, according to my brief googling, in 2001, the GSXR-1000 was produced as a 50 state bike aka CARB approved. As such, that new vehicle law doesn't apply to motorcycles that are CARB legal. But i'll keep digging on this to verify that this law doesn't apply to this motorcycle.

Here's a quote of what ive found so far to give me this impression:

IMPORTING MOTORCYCLES FROM OTHER STATES BY CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS Individuals are prohibited from importing, purchasing, or leasing a new vehicle from another state, unless the vehicle was manufactured for sale in California, and the EPA label certifies the vehicle has California smog equipment. California considers a new vehicle to be any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.

In other words, in order to prevent California residents from buying a NEW motorcycle in another state or country and then importing it into California thereby bypassing the more expensive and stricter emissions (read lower performance models) required by California, the state says you must have at least have 7,500 miles on the bike to bring it in.

The 7,500 mile requirement is ONLY for vehicles that don't meet the California emissions requirements. There is no 7,500 mile minimum requirement for motorcycles that have a manufacturer’s sticker indicating that they comply with California standards.

The odometer statement on the title or bill of sale should exceed 7,500 miles. The California DMV wants the mileage to be over 7,500 miles at the time it enters the state. They check the odometer reading against the odometer statement on the title and/or bill of sale. They consider the date of the sale (i.e. when you take ownership) as the time the bike "enters the state". If your bike was purchased and documented with 3,000 miles, and you try to bring it in with an odometer reading 7,500+ miles, you’ve got a problem.

When you attempt to register the bike for the first time the emissions label is inspected at the Department of Motor Vehicles to determine what standards the bike meets, and the odometer reading taken. The DMV doesn’t visually check that the California emissions equipment is actually installed, so swapping parts with a California-certified bike to obtain the manufacturer’s emissions sticker could be a work-around (depending where on the bike the sticker is mounted). There is no emissions testing of motorcycles in California.

Currently, smog inspections are required for all vehicles except diesel powered vehicles, electric, natural gas powered vehicles over 14,000 lbs, hybrids, motorcycles, trailers, or vehicles 1975 and older.
NOTE: California law prohibits importing and/or registering a new vehicle (one with less than 7,500 miles at the time of purchase) unless it meets or is exempt from California emission standards. If you acquire a 49 state vehicle (vehicle manufactured for all states except California) from another state or country and do not qualify for one of the exemptions, you cannot register your vehicle and must immediately remove it from this state.

I can stick it on a dyno with a throttle lock and let it cruise at 60mph all the way to 7500 miles if that's seriously a deal breaker for someone.

if it's a 50 state bike you're good. if it's a 50 state bike and the "complies to CA emissions" sticker is gone, you're probably hosed. yes, it should be automated information in the database but it's the CA dmv we're talking about. they're still worried about the Y2K fix, hoping the TPS reports go through. they check manually.

Nope, wouldn't matter. Once it's blackflagged it's on the DMV's radar and they will not let it be registered here.

If it's never been attempted, then as long as the odo says 7.5k it's fine.

Nice bike for a good price. I have own my 02 G1k since new and rarely consider buying a new literbike. Almost 87k on mine and still trucking like new.
