Got a hit on my home number, but not on cell. We'll see what happens.

Meh, I'd rather earn my money.

You seem to think that accepting part of a settlement taken from sleazy scumbag telemarketers is somehow not ok. Why? They broke the law, and wasted my time in the process. I'd hardly call any proceeds unearned.

I earn my money by working for it, but I am not going to ignore a legally binding settlement that would pay me for violations of the law that affected me.

The two are hardly mutually exclusive.

It's a class action lawsuit, it will probably be settled for 'attorney's fees' in the end with little or no payout to the plaintiffs.

All of this supposed money that they'll get 'for you' will more likely than not end up being money in their own bank account.

I once received a check for $0.03 from some class action suit I wasn't aware I was a part of. I had it up on my fridge for the longest time. It cost more in postage than the check was worth. :laughing

I gave it a once-over and it didn't see any reason for concern at all*. But I haven't been a hands-on net security guy for several years now, so please do educate me on why you think so. :laughing

* Certificate is legit, links to a law firm specializing in CA suits. Much specific info on the settlement site, and it doesn't ask for anything that isn't already public record. But as I said, please educate me.

I got a check for several hundred dollars from a similar Wells Fargo class action suit. I signed up the same way. What's the worst thing that could happen, I get MORE robocalls? What's the best? I get several hundred dollars. It says each call is worth 300 bucks up to a max of 900.

My wife's number came up, so if it is a "honey trap", she's the one that will get the calls. HA!

I don't think taking $900 from someone who called me is worthwhile.

I don't answer random numbers and block all spam calls.

I wish 5 seconds of my time is worth $900.

The money is a penalty being paid by the company that violated the law.

That's cool that you don't want any part of it but understand that the company has already set aside $X for the settlement funds, and if you don't take it the lawyers will. :dunno

Have you been part of a class action lawsuit before?

If you haven't, and participate in this one, your education will follow and it will probably be your last. :afm199

The thing about class action lawsuits is that you don't have any say, you don't have any advocate (not really) and you don't have anybody to look out after your interests. The lawyers doing these lawsuits have one goal.....maximize their own bank account and if you see anything at all from the lawsuit, it will only be because the lawyers were forced to pay you something and it won't be more than a tiny fraction of what they collect from the lawsuit. There's a very good reason why so many people dislike attorney's who specialize in class action lawsuits.

Thank you for your condescending attitude!
At 50 years old, yes I have been a part of more than one class action lawsuit. I am fully aware of my status, and I'm not sure what education you think I'll receive. Are you honestly telling me that what they promise might not be what they deliver? For realsies?
Color me amazed. :nchantr

It took me a whopping ten seconds to fill out my name and addy for the possibility of money I am due.
If they promise three bills, I assume I might get a check for fifty to seventy-five bucks in the mail in 3 or 4 months. More likely a coupon for some free piece of shit service or something.

But again, as I'm sure you know since you're so smart, the money has already been 'paid' by the company. Whether or not the number of claimants reduces the payment, the lawyers are getting paid.

Why you bustin my balls?

Funds left over will go to the NCLC. I support that.

1% to BARF if I get paid out.

EDIT**
Court approval process is in April 2018 so don't expect to see funds until June 2018 if they do not appeal.
