Flat tire help by a BARF angel

Hwy 101 in Atherton.

Rear tire rapidly deflated at 60+ mph :wtf

Carefully merged from lane #2 past lane #5 onto the right shoulder.

Scratching head wondering how much a replacement FZ-07 rim might run, how much a tow would cost, how one pushes a 400 lb bike two miles to the next exit wearing Sidi boots :popcorn

... then an SUV pulled up with hazards flashing. A fellow rider who saw me on the verge of tears had stopped. Gotten out, and offered to look up tow services. Her BARF handle is "dogswag" and her name is Frances.

My faith in humanity has been reaffirmed :thumbup

I think I work with a few people you know...matty and Diego. Are you the person I'm thinking of?

Hang on, are you the person in the photos, or the one taking them? Pretty sure I know the person in the photos.

Good on her for helping out a fellow rider!

Hopefully you asked before taking her pics and then posting them publicly.

Title should have been changed to "M4F: Flat tire help by a BARF angel"

You are welcome Ich!:laughing

Useful idiot
I'll be honest. I'm a bit confused. She stopped to help and the assistance provided was googling (and presumably contacting) a tow service? I assume the photos were taken via a smart phone. If that is the case, why did she have to do the googling? I'm very confused. Good on her for stopping and helping, but I don't see where she did anything you couldn't have done well before she arrived. :dunno

^ same here. had she pulled up in a truck then it would be an actual rescue, not sure why OP didn't make the call/google for a tow.....

In the second pic it looks like she's texting someone. That might mean someone she knows wha is coming with a truck or trailer. Either way, with the temperature literally breaking records yesterday, it could have easily been a life saving gesture.

Good on "Dogswag" to stop and help. Motorcyclists mindset, she has. .:thumbup
Ich, what are you doing riding in that heat? :wtf

That's kind scarey 60mph tire goes flat. What happened to the tire? I always carry a pump and tire plug kit (on bikes that have tubeless tires).

The FZ07 is so light no too hard to push it =P

I have AAA platinum roadside and AMA also.

I am a cheap bastard, using a prepaid phone with no data plan to look up resources. Relied on her smart phone to locate tow options. :hail

My photos were taken with a DSLR (a cheap Pentax, not those upscale Nikons or Canons) :laughing

Eric, I was coming back from Mehran's north bay ride. It hovered above +100ºF most of the way. A lot of people near Stinson beach, very few riders on the back roads :thumbup

MetroPCS is $40 month and they even give you a smart phone, your insurance company/policy should include road side assistance Mercury Insurance does....tire repair kit and pump should not set you back anymore that $30...
