HELP!!!

I've got a pop-up trackday tomorrow that I wasn't expecting.

My leathers fit! :banana

But the zipper busted last time I wore them to a trackday and I never got them fixed.

Any suggestions?

Ducktape?

Rivots and string?

Someone want to come over and fix my zipper for beer?

Did the zipper rip out of the leathers and is otherwise intact to the guidelines/tape, so you could use some fishing line, or whatever is the proper waxed nylon thread, and sew it back? Or are there missing/bent teeth? Does it just need to be re-threaded back together?

The zipper piece is gone and just the two sides with the teeth remain.

Nothing broken on the teeth, just needs a new zipper piece.

I was thinking fishing line sewn in or maybe industrial safety pins?

Brief thread jack, sorry.
Koi, did I walk right by you in the NASCAR paddock on Sunday?
Were you wearing a National Guard jacket??
I saw what I thought was you but was unable to navigate the chaos. to say hi.

Wasn't me

I didn't go this year and especially not wearing a national guard jacket.

Don't use safety pins. Trust me they will open and stab you in the crotchial area. There's also a good chance they'll tear through the leather if you only use one or two.

Any K Mart of Walmart will sell zippers in the back with the sewing supplies. How are your sewing skills?

I could possibly fix it, as I have extra brass zippers. But t I can't do it tonight. My best thought is to sew it closed before each session.

Need to be able to do it myself as I work all day and nobody will be open by the time I get home.

Did the original sliding closure mechanism bend and pull off? I was able to reassemble a zipper by reinstalling the slider and working all the little teeth in the past. If you don't have it, you may be able to buy a new quality zipper and use just the slider. You may have something less valuable to you right now that you can scavenge the slider off. As I remember, once you get it on, all you have to worry about are the teeth under it. You should be able to knit those together easily. It is worth a try.
