First race, slight panic - R6 related

So I sent my ecu out to get tuned this week, and I'm really relying on this guy to send it back to me in time. But! Incase he doesn't I was hoping somebody would have a spare 2011 Yamaha R6 compatible ecu. I would hate to miss my first race because of that.

And also, I ordered some GB case savers but they are on back order(and you need these to pass tech right?)...... Does anybody have an extra set of those I could potentially borrow for the first round?

Thanks for any help, I have worked too hard to come this far and not make it...

We can find you one if needed. When are you supposed to get your ecu? Who did you send it to?

I have the perfect solution. Go to Feel Like A Pro and rent a bike for the season. Go win the Championship and take that experience and transfer it over to the R6 next year for your next Championship :) In the meantime you have all year to make sure your bike is ready for next year!

Essentially, take the ECU of the rider and plug it into a FLAP bike. I LIKE IT!!!!

Once the above is taken care of...

Just go out there w/one glaring thought on your mind:

Have fun!!! Learn!!!

Learn the track, learn the flags, procedures, learn lines, etc. Your not going to win your first race; so don't try. Just try to RIDE BETTER than you ever have before. Open your mind; make your brain behave like a sponge. FEEL the bike; realize your inputs & the outputs that come from them. Again: LEARN!

But above all, have fun! :thumbup

The OP demonstrated some unusual constraint. Most racers decide to do a full Superbike motor build before the opening round. Just an ECU is doable.

Thanks guys for coming through with the help! It looks like my ecu is on the way back home and my other order which included the case covers has also been shipped out. I'm glad I chose a bike that everyone rides, makes it easier to reach out for help.

Dont trust anyone but a certified Woolich racing ECU flashing tuner like Catalyst Reaction Tuning or Ricky Corey. You get what you pay for

I'll keep that in mind but I'm hoping my ecu does fine.

*all parts came in so I will be able to put the bike together Friday morning before heading out... lol

So how did it go? Or should I take your DNS in Clubman to mean you didn't make it last weekend?

Yeah I wasn't able to make it. I under estimated how difficult it is to drill for safety wire. That's my fault.

What problems were you having with safety wiring? With the right tools, it isn't bad. Buy good drill bits and have a quality drill (I found that one that you actually plug into a wall is best) and it should only take an hour or two.

I couldn't get the bit to push through the caliper bolts. I was using a cobalt bit, tried it on a cordless, corded, and harbor freight drill press. Was also using cutting oil.

I'm going to try it again with a smaller bit. I heard 1/16th is the ideal size.

It was weird cause nearby machine shops said they couldn't drill my caliper bolts? Kinda made me sad.

Bummer dude.

However, that is a true showing of commitment to the procrastinators club; I'm promoting you to Sr. Membership. By our schedule you have exactly 5 weeks to relax before you begin preparations for round 2!
