First half of my 90 mile commute on the Husky 610

My day started of with the wonderful sound of no battery power as I turned the ignition on my truck. Ohh well I guess it is a good day to see how bad the commute is from South San Jose to Foster City on the 610. Luckily I picked up an Aerostich a short while back so it only took me about 10 minutes to get fully geared up, warm up the bike and head out.

My normal route in the truck is Monterey Rd to 280 to 85 to 101 and finally to 92 before exciting Foster City Blvd. I followed the same route on the Husky so I wouldn’t be stuck motoring down one freeway for to long. Overall the commute was OK. I think I would actually prefer the commute on the Husky compared to my old 636. The wind was only a small nuisance on 101 moving my head around just a little. Cruising was smooth at 75 – 80 and if was easy to keep that speed with no worries of accidentally getting in the 90mph range. The biggest problem was maneuvering around the brown skinned fellows in their gardening trucks (I think they were Mexican but that really would have no barring on the story so I will stick with brown skinned fellows :shhh). These fellows seemed to think it was cool to cruise the carpool lane at 65. I didn’t save much time compared to the truck so I doubt I will put any excess miles on the Husky commuting but it is nice to know that it is there if I need it :thumbup

Just another reason to :love the Supermoto!

I commute a few times a month on my 610, San Bruno to Santa Clara, 32-40 miles each way depending if I take 101 or the longer (but less congested) route via 280. It's more than up to the task.

I also just geared it a bit taller (-2 in the rear) so that should make it a bit less revvy at freeway speeds (not that it was that revvy to begin with anyway).

I guess nobody but fellow husky owners care :cry

Well even Stan doesn't care, he is just bitter :cry

Since the first day I've wanted to gear it up a bit taller. 1st gear is useless and it definitely has the power to eat up some taller gears. I think I'm going to go with the 2 down. :thumbup

I went -2 in the rear and +1 in the front CS. Luv it for the freeway, but not as rippy in the hills.

Awesome you have it as a backup!
I wish DRZ's had 6 gears.:cry

What happened to the second half of your 90 commute?:twofinger

You only have five gears :wow Why would you have a bike with only 5 gears :confused

:twofinger

The commute home was much of the same, accept the carpool lane was a lot slower. Still took about 50 minutes to get home, so back to the truck tomorrow. :thumbup
