eico freaks are spouting we are killing our selves by heating up the air.
and now scientists are saying cause of lack of sun spots we will go into another ice age.

nobody know what will happen over the next year, let alone 100 years.

the earth has be a lot warmer and a lot colder over time. and humans had nothing to do with it. :afm199

Lol no dude.
It doesn't work like that.

They do know what's happening.

Hotter on average globally and it only started occurring after the Industrial Revolution.

"Weather" is getting more extreme.

What you are referring to are just simple spikes which we call "weather" which is driven by Earth's solar orbit and compounded by "global warming" but is not " global warming ".

Global warming is the overall temperature on average.

the weather people can only guess based on averages of what has been recorded on said dates. and adjusted on that days weather patterns.
and can still be wrong.
Ca in the summer is going to be HOT. so they forecast HOT.
this winter. they do not know the first day it will rain or how much. but they can guess based on the history of the area.

and many times have gotten very wrong. :afm199

"Weather people" (meteorologists) are not the only ones who study the temperature of the earth during history.

Man written record of the temperature is not the only source we have to go on.

all branches of the Sciences concur.

Biologists can point to a specific atmosphere that allowed for certain animals to exist at a certain point in history.

Geologists can point to the formation of glacial valleys or eruptions on a continental scale that indicate what the average temperature must have looked like.

The argument is not whether or not climate change is taking place or unprecedented.
You'll find evidence for climate change throughout (pre) history.

The debate is whether or not we are causing it.

The conclusion is that there are no other sources for the atmosphere changes during the existence of modern man, other than ourselves.

My knowledge is cursory at best.

From what we believe to be the historical temps at this point on the curve when exiting an ice age, I wonder what the expected average temperature change per hundred years is, versus what it's actually been? Considering most charts are showing changes over millions of years, I'm guessing it's not a lot.

This is where I begin to be out of my depth without running to Wikipedia.

but if I recall correctly, the chemistry of atmosphere trapped in ice core samples when compared to corresponding points in history indicate, that atmospheric changes during said amount of time do not show the rapid change in average temperature we are now experiencing, without a major change in ecology, Siberia blowing up, or some such event of massive scale.

In this case ecology.
We are that event

Yep. Of course, if you follow what certain politicians say, or political parties, you are running blind anyway. Whens some dumbass says that all of the 93% of climate scientists, that agree that climate change is a problem, are corrupt, some guy that is paid to stir up shit between different political ideologies, there is NO way they know what they are talking about. But as long as they can ridicule the other side, no matter how stupid it makes them appear, I guess they get a paycheck..

No, I'm not a Democrat, either, I think for myself. They are corrupt also.

Here's what I was looking at which lead to my question: https://kaiserscience.wordpress.com/earth-science/weather/ice-ages/

You can see the gnarly ramps up and down on the left side where time is condensed, less so on the right. We're in the transitional period where change is much more rapid than the plateaus in between, but what's that translate to over 100 years? And if you look at the 'climate swings of the last 12k years', we can see the little post ice age micro-swings, but what do those swings translate to per year, or hundred years?

I feel the need to state that I believe humans significantly contribute to pollution and thus the thermal effects that come with it. If I don't say it, someone will perceive these questions as equating to a love for republicans and sweet baby jesus.

Ain't none gonna matter, no how. Once that there super volcano under Yosemite blows, you's be kissin' your asses g'bye.

I have no idea why I put that in a southern drawl. At least that's what it sounded like in my head.

i think you mean Yellowstone. yosemite was carved by ice that died out a very very long time ago.

my posting was just to say between many groups nobody can say what the climate will be like in 100 years.

at one time it was like the tropics in north america, aka: in canada.
the contents move, inches in hundreds of years. sometime in seconds.

sure we are doing some of the changes, but most is mother nature choices.
mostly we are turning the planet into one huge garbage pile.
the sun has more impact on our climate and weather than we can do.
one large volcano can case the earths temp to drop 2-4 degrees in six months.
how many have done there thing just this year?

but if it is going to be hot all year long that's ok with me. (hate the heat), but the passes will stay open for riding all year long. :)

If s tree fell over without humans involved, does that remove the possibility that humans might knock down trees in the future?

It's the drag strips. Especially the ones where the cars and bikes launch from west to east. Each run slows down the rotation of the earth a tiny bit. It builds up over time and the earth's temperature goes up.
