Finally saying Hello!

Hi All,

I am up late thinking about motorcycling again. Ventured over to BARF to peruse the classifieds and thought maybe I should finally introduce myself. I have been a long time on again off again lurker (think I first heard about BARF in 2005 or 2006). I have been riding since 2004 and have lived in the Bay Area since 2008 but didn't actually join BARF until late 2017. For whatever reason I never introduced myself.

I started riding when I was in the military living out of state. Apart from my military friends all of my other friends were riders. Used to ride in groups of 3-10 pretty regularly. Since moving back to CA I haven't really done a lot of group riding. I do occasionally meet up with a few people but as I have aged I just don't have a lot of time for these things anymore. Anyway I am interested in doing more group riding so I will be checking on here occasionally to see if there are any rides I might like to join in on.

I mostly ride in the Santa Cruz mountains and between San Jose and Monterey but am open to trying new stuff too. I have driven but never ridden Mines Road and I figure I will give that a try at some point. My main riding accomplice lives in the East Bay and rides it regularly so I will check that out with him sometime. I have ridden in the hills above Oakland/Castro Valley a few times. I would like to ride highway 36 out of Red Bluff in the future as well as ride more in the Sierra Foothills but that will have to be more of a planned event for me.

My plan within the next few years is to get a dedicated track bike and a way to transport it so I could do maybe 3-6 track days a year. Right now I ride an Aprilia Tuono. I try to get out once a week on it. I was able to do one track day on it two years ago at THill with Keigwins and had a great time (modified 5 mile course so it was 30 minute sessions instead of 20).

I'll be out on the T in the morning (just a few hours from now) to try to avoid the traffic and heat. My Italian mistress (I refer to her as Francesca) does not like to run in warmer temps or slow/stopped traffic (anybody with seat time on an Ape V4 knows what I mean). I saw 103F while driving today so I am hoping to avoid anything close to that.

Take care all and ride safe!

Lots of great roads out there waiting for you to explore them.
Lots of good people here to explore them with.

A barf rally is a great way to find both.

:ride with a :teeth

Tuonos are great bikes. They kind of remind me of a bug, more so than the newer Triumphs (2012 and newer)... :laughing

Mines is a blast to ride! Good fun and good food at the Junction too! Hope to see you on the road one of these days!
