Great to see this new addition to this very busy egroup. Thank's Tim for moderating.

Here's an image of my ride to the lost coast. I'm sure many of you will recognize this spot in the road.

I haven't had much luck using the Image Station to host photos in the past. Please let me know if you can't see the image.

More later, I have to get up early tomorrow for a day in SF at the Cycle World show.

Mattole Road - The Lost Coast - Just a fantastic ride along the coast there- rest of the ride is pretty bumpy and deteriorated but, this stretch of road is well worth it!

Hey Tim,

How the hell did you do that? That's pretty cool. You posted my picture for me.

I did a test photo in the test forum and my image was viewable. I suspect it has something to do with the Image Station cookie that's already in my computer. I know they want all viewers to register even though it's still free. Who do you use to store and share photos?

I'll be doing more touring research at the bike show tomorrow. I hope to have some more info for you later next week.

C-ya and good night.

How to post pics. There is probably a post somewhere for this, but actually it's really easy.

If it's a picture on your C drive on your CPU- then just hit the 'attach' button which is below the typing box. Then browse through the directories on your C drive till you find it. I think though if you hit the 'preview post' button- you will lose the photo though. So do the attach file last.

If the pic is uploaded somewhere on the web, try this- find the photo on the internet on it's webpage. Then right click with the pointer over the pic. You'll see a 'properties' button at the bottom of your list of choices in a box that pops up. The properties box tells you all about the object that you're right clicking- including the location of the file on the internet. Hit that, and it'll show you the web address of the pic. Highlight the web address (at the bottom) with your pointer- then hit 'Control C' on your keyboard. This is the 'cut' function. You can do it with any graphic, or pic anywhere. Then in the typing box, hit the 'IMG' button. Hit 'Control V' on your keyboard after you click on the 'img' box and PASTE the web address into the line for the 'http://..... ' The webadress magically appears. For example, in the upper left corner- the barf logo.

vBulletin_logo.gif

The code looks like this: IMG]http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/images/vBulletin_logo.gif[/IMG]

Since your pic is located on the web- it's location is

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid87/p2c45889176923f38f76001417c85a672/fa9e081e.jpg

Once you know this, just add the [img... tags, and good to go.

See. Easy as pie. (uh, cake, i think). Sounds complicated, but it's really very easy. Oh, and this is how you can steal, I mean liberate, whatever you want off the web in terms of graphics and photos (and why I had to add the 'pashnit.com' words to all 2000 of my photos since they were popping up everywhere!).

Try that and see it if makes sense.

Oh, and I almost forgot :welcome

How was the triumph ride the other day? Pretty sad I couldn't make that, in due time though.

Tim, the annual Northern CA All-Brit ride was a hoot as usual. This years ride took us up, over and around Bon Tempe Lake in incredibly fragrant areas between Fairfax and Bolinas. It was a tight sum-of-a-bitch road that worked my 35 year old ride to the max. With the bright sunshine penetrating the darkness of the deep forest it was all my eyes could do to stay up with the rapid changes. My pupils were working overtime. Throw in corners full of wet roadway with leaves on them and it's really remarkable that none of the 150 or so crashed out. It's a testament to our many years of experience. The 85 mile ride in great fall weather made the party afterwards the icing on the cake.

I will admit however, that the ride has lost some of its pizzaz since the Brit bike clubs took it over a couple of years ago. It used to be known as the Don Danmier birthday ride. And Don would always hire a model from an agency to play the role of Maggie Neato. She would pass out Don's awards in an evening gown then strip down to her bikini to horse around with the guys. Without Maggie, it's just not the same. Here's a shot of the `99 Maggie, a very good year!

Tim, thanks for covering the photo & attatchment basics for me. I already knew about most of it...What I was wondering is, why do I sometimes only see a link when I use Image Station and other times I'll see the actual photo?

Anyway here's an attachment photo that I'm including. Apparently BARF is willing to accept uploaded photos as long as the files aren't too large. That's pretty cool.

I also wanted to tell you I said Hi to Amy Holland of Friction Zone and Michael Miller of Road Runner at the San Mateo MC show and they were both enthusiastic about my DIY touring ideas. I'll talk to you soon. Jerry
