Good news!
I'm still putting details together, but I talked to Mark Pope at CHP this morning and he tells me the CHP is still in 100% support of splitting, but word came down from outside the CHP to not publish the guidelines as "guidelines."
Good conversation—I'll share more as I work through the details.

Future law.. :jaded I always felt as this subject came up and guidelines issued that eventually they would work there way into Law. And likely some politician would think they should lower and adjust because they think they are saving lives. At some point no doubt there will be a battle cry given.

Perhaps "strategies."
Riders need to raise their voices on this, and continue to be good ambassadors. Things quieted down when SB350 was no longer an issue to rally around, but we all need to be continually working on this issue. Unless there's a law—and if there's going to be, we need to be involved in shaping it.

I've got 2 questions about the 2 following mentioned points.
1) Is it a MUST to remain no more than 10MPH? (meaning would it be illegal if you're going over 10MPH than cars? I say this cuz during traffic rush they go 10 MPH sometimes, when a biker could go 25-35PMH easily)
2) The word advisable sounds it's an advise, not the law. Can someone clarify that? Can you NOT lane-split "legally" if the traffic is going over 30MPH?

This is my concern too...
It should be noted that you can be cited even following the posted guidelines. They are not laws.

I was splitting in traffic that was moving 25-30 with a +5mph speed delta and I was knocked over and left for dead. Had I been going faster all that would have happened is I would have hit the ground harder. As it was I had no time to react because I was right next to the drivers door when the driver came into me and hit the end of my bars and knocked me down.

That's really slow. Split faster, you won't give them so much time to hit you.

CHP commissioner Farrow has stepped down before issuing the guidelines. This is likely going to mean it will be some time before they are issued and the media blitz that goes with it is started.
Very disappointing. I have a meeting Wednesday and hope to get an update, but for now they are on stand by.

Where lane splitting was still legal?
I still think there are laws that already exist that cover splitting.
Speed limit, reckless driving, unsafe lane change etc.
Guidelines are great and all, but I'm not too worried with them or concerned about them.
