There are a bunch.

Y & T - Contagious had great meaning to me due to it being a psych up song for my racing. Specially the 24 hr races....”burn after midnight”

Motley Crew - Kickstart my Heart was another.

And Joe Satriani - Surfing with an Alien was the trifecta of psych up moments.

Just saw Y & T a few weeks ago. Took me back to the track. :cool

In 1980, AC/DC came out with Back in Black featuring a new singer (Brian Johnson) replacing the late great Bon Scott.
My life was never the same :cool

Man, I've tried to listen to some TD lately and I can't even get past the first half minute or so. It feels so shallow and lackluster now.

Not from the 80's or 90's, but mention of AC/DC brought to mind Jailbreak, and Little Lover. Both from the 70's, but my two favorite songs by them. I'd say my 80's favorite song is Dreamland by the Sun City Girls, and my 90's favorite song might be Skulls by the Lemonheads, Allstar by Smash Mouth, or Cherry Pie by Warrant.

Once downloaded an awesome tune from NAPSTER by the Deaftones.
Can't remember it now but used to play it a lot back then. So basically can't remember my favorite song from the 90's.

I don't even know. Almost all of my music is from the 80's and 90's.

The first album I EVER got for myself was in 1983. It was Quiet Riot, Metal Health. I know, total ButtRock Metal, but give me a break, I was 7.

I guess that one is special. I loved it because not only did it have cool songs to me, the guy on the cover looked like something from a horror movie to me and when I was 7 I was really into horror movies.

1983 is the year after Jason got his Hockey mask in Friday the 13th part 3, so I was able to watch it on Showtime after my parents went to bed, just like Halloween I, II, and III. Freddy didn't come around till '84.

Michael Jackson and Madonna were super cool in the 80's and I was a fan as a youngster. Michal Jackson's "The Making of Thriller" was huge for me, also in 1983, it played all the time on MTv and it taught me so much about the techniques behind monster make-up and the production of horror films. So I guess that one is really special.

I spent most of the 90's exploring all kinds of music from the 80's, if I had to pick a favorite album musically, it would probably have to be Some Girls Wander by Mistake.

Others may disagree, you would have to waltz in the spider webs on razor thin bat wings to understand.

Most of my teens and early 20's were in the 90's so of course I lived that music very deeply.

I would say a very special one for me is Elegantly Wasted by INXS. Even when I was trying to be super hard and metal as a teenager in the early 90's, whenever a flashback video would show classic INXS songs I simply could not deny those were fucking great tracks with an inalienable cool to them. The band had talent and had an eye for a cool looking video, which was so important in the golden age of music that was the 80's.

Elegantly Wasted is important I feel, because it exposes the brutal tragedy of Michael Hutchens death. INXS was a band that exemplified cool in the 80's but clearly were going to be able to update their sound and image to a more contemporary version of themselves in the 90's. The ability for an artist to express and evolve without betraying their roots is so rare, and it is a damn shame we never got to see more.

If I had to have a favorite artist of the 90's and I liked a great many, it could never be anyone but Trent Reznor. Even if Pretty Hate Machine dropped in 1989, there is probably not a single artist that was more excellent, more talented, more influential, and more clearly defined the decade than Trent.

get it while it's easy
when i was a young child, my parents played folk music in our house - it was like mothers milk to me. in that vein, tracy chapman is a recording artist that absolutely speaks to my soul. she began recording in 1988. i love her, and this is my favorite among her many incredible songs.

"Insignificant Other"
These guys were really popular in East San Jose back in the day. I still absolutely adore this song to this day. It’s not stereotypical 80’s, but the song was released in 1980, so it counts.
