Who's gone on a fall colors ride and where are your photos? I was up near Burney and it's gorgeous out.

If you haven't gone to catch some fall colors, go while you can! There are still red and yellow leaves to be seen and they sure are pretty.

If you have good photos, post them up. I would, except I smashed my cell phone this weekend. d'oh.

More of a winter ride after a certain point in the BDR but I got this one, this is on the dirt road going to Jarbidge in the Northern section of the BDR after Elko.

This was from last year I rode the KLR650 through Monitor Pass and found some nice ones at the top, HAH and see that KLR has seen some dirt!

Did someone say SR-3?

Saw me some color this Saturday on SR-3. Out of Chico, up 99 > 5 > Whiskeytown > Lewistown > Trinity Center > 3.

Didn't realize Callahan had no gas, so opted to stay on 3 to Etna, Ft. Jones and eventually Yreka.

How are the transverse routes from 3 to I-5? Decent pavement? I've been fooled a few times and encountered dirt and gravel up in them thar hills. Fat Bob handles it better than my skill.

Ramshorn/Castle Creek to Castella?

Callahan to Gazelle?

Would see more leaves, but the helmet head always in the way. Need to work on my selfie technique along with riding skillz. :teeth

Gazelle Callahan is nice smooth pavement. Callahan has no gas. Cecilville does. The loop from Etna to Sawyer's bar to Cecilville back to Callahan is about 90 miles. Etna is only 12 miles from Callahan and you can get gas in Etna.

OK, there were other spots with more color but I found out Google backed up my photos so here's a quick shot of Cecilville-Callahan. If I'd pulled over half a mile back there was a lot more color.

Oh well.

Hwy 49 still had a lot of color as well. But we didn't stop.

Near June Lake a few years back ... DR650's. It snowed the next day! Unpredictable Sierra! :wow

Thanks! We did this same route a week ago on the Sierra ride. I was on the
Duca-Ca ... it was NOT happy on that rocky road ... but made it unharmed at very slow pace!

Late Oct. was just a bit late for the Fall Colors this year. Late Sept. is probably best for Sierra area.

Yeah, I got the email for the Sierra ride but wasn't able to make it.

When my DR gets fixed lets have another DR date. :)

Sounds good! :thumbup

BTW, I was following your DR woes on another thread but it's gone dead ...
have you managed to fix your DR yet? Problem? Solution?

You had asked (in a PM) about your dead DR about two or three weeks ago? ... I suggested pick up coil. Any luck with that ... or?

When I rode your bike it Carburated so well I can't imagine it's a fuel related issue ... probably electrical I would bet.

Ignore VOM readings unless you are an expert ... they are rarely correct.
Swapping in known good part is best. I know you did that with the stator ...
but should have done the Pick up Coil first ... very common. Ignition Coils rarely fail on the DR650.

All the best!
