Failed CVSA

Thought I'd update everyone. Did my CVSA the other day, BI administering claimed I was lying about my drug use and that I was purposefully withholding information from them. Both of those questions said I was "lying."

I was telling the truth but the BI believed the CVSA.

My official BI hasn't received the results yet and said she should receive them next week. I also have a meeting with her on Thursday. If I'm going to get DQd will they still meet with me or will she let me know via phone you think?

I'm currently in Santa Barbara and driving up north for a meeting for them to say "bye Felicia" is a waste of time.

Were you lying? Did you tell them anything different after the administrator told you he thought you were lying?

I don't really have much to add. Talk to your background investigator ands see what they say. If you weren't lying, tell them so. I really don't know how it will affect your progress.

Haha, I doubt he is going to admit to lying here even if he was.

Ask to take the test a second time with a different examiner.

They're either going to continue with him, or not. I don't think a request would go far. If they don't continue him in the process, best to just look elsewhere. Possibly try again at anither time. LE testing can be frustrating.

I won't go too much into it, but I'll ask you this as more of a rhetorical question...how do you know for certain that you failed the exam?

Wait to hear from your background investigator before making any assumptions..

Oh, trust me. I know the frustration.

Well, yeah, I know exactly what you're saying.

I wasn't lying, I've revealed all my prior drug use. Maybe they don't believe I haven't done a ton of drugs?

I'm assuming I failed by the way he talked about it before letting me take off. Basically "Based on X, Y, and Z I can't make a good recommendation to your BI."

I do remember him showing me the charts the first round and not the second, it is possible he was just fucking with me to see if I would admit something.

Get that!
Don't even worry about it. The outcome cannot be controlled by you at this point.

It couldve been a trick to make you say, "Yea, ok. I did use more drugs."

Can still go Fire. Everyone likes a fire fighter. Pay isnt even that bad.

I find CVSA/similar tests funny. Not conclusive enough to use in law, yet LE application processes contain them.

They could just be making you sweat, with your acknowledgment about drugs, and see if you freak out man... Go with the flow.

In the early 80s I worked for a company that used a company with a mobil lie detector to detect employee theft. We were tested annually. They would show up unannounced in a non descript van and cycle us through then process. One year I came up inconclusive. The gun wearing asshole told me that he would have to tell my employer that fact and that he did not know what would happen. That freaked me out and as a 20 YO I started to sweat even more. I didn't want to lose my job. Knowing that I had not stolen ANYTHING and in fact had given customers a few dollars of my change over the years, I asked him to stop asking twisted questions and get straight to the point ie: have you ever stolen any X Y or Z, or did any other specific thing that could get you fired. Once he asked the questions in a straight forward method, I passed no problem. I did tell my manager what happened as I was in the van for twice as long as everyone else. In the end it all worked out as I ended up managing the business, but I'll never forget that day. Polygraphing was outlawed a few years later.

If you told the truth tell them so and offer to go through the process again.

While it wasn't a "pass/fail" my BI is sending me to the next level! Pending a couple more forms come back without problems I'll be moving to psych and medical evals.

If all goes well, academy most likely in March. :thumbup
