Exhaust upgrade question

Goonies never say die
Oh Great and Powerful BARF, I have a POS shorty Jardine exhaust that is obnoxiously loud, setting off my neighbors car alarms, and I'd like to do a track day other than Sears Point, and be within the decibel limits (particularly Thunderhill). I've decided on Yoshi, and I do understand the California stock exhaust situation, but not interested in stock for my gsxr. I'm not interested in racing aspect of exhaust systems but I have noticed with online sites that a "race exhaust" (Yoshi TRC slip-on), is significantly cheaper than the R-77 model. Nearly a $600 difference! Why is that? Is there any real difference between the two, when it comes to me just wanting a quieter exhaust? Also, will these Yoshi exhaust have lower decibels than the Jardine? I'm just looking for something that won't cause a stampede when I ride by a herd of cows (true story bro), and will get me past California's track decibel limits. I don't know much about exhaust, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

if you want the lowest DB pipe, the arko seems to be the best. depending on what year gsxr I have a yosh midpipe that you could buy and try out. Its the little s shaped thing. I had the R77 and it was pretty quiet but nice sounding in the upper revs

If you want it quieter take a look at jay murray's inserts. I wanna say they lower the db level by 10~. Dont quote me on the exact number, but they do quiet down the pipe significantly and are usually only a couple hundred smackaroos. A lot less than a new pipe

Oh and im pretty sure thunderhill doesnt have a db limit.

Or id be kicked out real quick, my ape is quite loud at WOT

Anything but D&D is much quieter than Jardine. It's hideously loud and will blow the dec meter at Sears Point, which is hard to do.

Taken from the website: maybe they don't really follow it to a T? I possibly could be ok with the Jardine, but a Yoshi would be a nice upgrade anyway.
Thanks for the tips, I'll check out the sound deadener, and look up that S pipe.

" Sound Limits At Thunderhilll - Please Read!

Be advised Thunderhil Raceway has a 103 sound limit and mufflers are required. We wanted to remind you of these requirements and let you know they will be strictly enforced. This means anyone attending events at Thunderhill should be fully prepared to follow these requirements. If you are over the 103 limit, you will be blacked flagged. Thunderhill will then give you an opportunity to correct the problem. Once you are back out on track, if you are still over the 103 limit you will be asked to trailer the car or motorcycle for the rest of the day.
We wanted to give you this friendly reminder so you can come prepared and are not caught off guard by sound issues. As always we want you to have a great experience whenever you attend events at Thunderhill Raceway!
Thank you,
Thunderhill Management "

Dont think they enforce that too much. Ive got a v4 with more or less a baked bean can on the side of it and have never gotten flagged.

Not me but this is pretty much how my bike sounds out there

I had a Yosh bolt on can on my Gsxr, and replaced it with a stock muffler to ride a day at Laguna Seca. If gave a big increase in mid range, and for the first time, I noticed that the noise from the Yosh was annoying. If it were mine, I would Ebay a stock can, and not look back. The gain from a bolt on is negligible, the real gain is noise. I guess I'm just a turkey, because I can't make use of all the horsepower that a stock 750 makes. Judging by aftermarket sales, most people need more horsepower. My bike will only go about 170 (according to period road tests). Do I need more?

Note: Sears Point and Thunderhill DO enforce their limits. 103db is very loud, usually on reached by Jardines on GSXR's (serious)

When i had my RC51 with yoshis that were missing about 6 inches I was still fine at t-hill. Jardines must be close to running a straight pipe.

Still have a stock muffler? You can rip baffles out until you reach the desired sound level or flow... my bandit only has one baffle remaining, I tore out everything I could reach. Took a couple hrs, but was well worth it. I can now see straight through three different paths, had to rejet the bike. It sounds much better than stock, but still far from obnoxious.

Just my jew sense. :)

I have a slip on yosh r77 on my 07 gsxr.

It's not obnoxiously loud but has a great tone and great performance.

If you can find a single side (no mid pipe) slip on for a decent price on ebay I have a spare left side can which will be quiet and still get you slightly netter performance
