law talking folk - why aggravated assault and not something more serious?

AA on a police officer is a pretty serious charge, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's just a placeholder to be upgraded to attempted capital murder once they complete the investigation.

And, I'm sorry, but some of you are surprised that someone from the racing community is involved with stolen bikes?

They like to think that racers are kosher. You meet people, you talk with them, you spend the day with them sharing a hobby, even if one of them is secretly a murder you'd think he was a great guy.

autocross was cool, cause it was obvious almost nobody had money (or else they wouldn't be racing 40 year old cars with missing parts), so ain't no way there was illicit behavior there. But, competitive motorcycle racing requires money and bike parts. No surprise to me.

Actually I think it's more that generally racers are very giving, nice folks...willing to donate parts to get you back on the track even if it means you'll beat them. I've gotten a lot of support from normal riders, trackday riders, and racers across the board and in generally they've all been very generous, giving people.

Of course, there's bad apples in every group, (see gobert), but that's just the way life is.
