EVS Gear...Anyone have info?

I have been looking into getting some Knee and shin guards for commuting, and came across some EVS models that seemed incredibly good and at a decent price point. They look more heavy duty than Dianese, Alpinestars, etc. and I like that they have the open back and a lower thigh strap. Looking primarily at the Epic Model.

But, the question is...I am not very familiar with the company...Are you? and what can you say about them?

Never heard of em, but I like that design. I stopped wearing mine because I couldn't stand the thin straps bunching up and being right in the crook of my knee.

I was thinking about that in all the "window shopping" I have been doing, and that is why I keep coming back to these. Seems like with the more rigid upper part that it would help keep the strap in place.

the straps look like nylon type material with velcro sewn in...if so, they should be good for some good use. i have a pair of ICON knee guards that are 7-8 years old. they have elastic straps that are still good but are stretched a bit from use.

sorry. i have seen these while surfing, but don't know anyone who has a pair.

They've been around a while, and make pretty good knee braces. I've been using the Vision for a while, which have bracing to protect against the knee bending in ways it shouldn't.

After I f-ed up my knee on the xr100 a million years ago I bought an evs knee brace to use on the short track at club moto. I didn't reinjure myself, well not the knee anyway, and it wasn't horribly uncomfortable to wear. I also wore it trail riding too. I don't think I'd use it on a street bike unless it was really narrow because of the bulk. Just dug mine out of my offroad gear crate (sad dusty pile of old gear!) Its the rs6 model. Probably bought it around '98-'00. They have been around for a while. I'd go hit a shop and put them on and walk around for a while, sit on the bike, etc. Decent stuff imho.

Thanks for the info, Daniel. I guess the next step is to find someone local that sells them. But, all good info and thanks a ton everyone

EVS is great gear. Just ask yourself, will you wear it every time? The more straps and doo-dads the more apt we are to say, "screw it" and ride without putting it on. Just keep that in the back of your head.

EjGlows: For commuting, Yes. Since, I just usually commute in jeans, I have been getting very paranoid. As well, I stopped to help a downed rider not too long ago on my commute into work, and it really has stuck with me.(besides the fact that i ended up knowing him.) So, knowing that overpants are a better option, for some reason I find them difficult and uncomfortable to ride in. So, was figuring something like this is a good alternative.
