I've had a favorite pair of gloves, (Held Steves) for 20 something years now. They are the ones that fit, and feel perfect. Of course in the 20 years I've had them, there have been a number of 2nd bests, like a couple of Helimots that were excellent, and a few others that were good, but definitely in 3rd or 4th place.

In that 3rd place group I count the Held Steves I bought last year that are totally not the same Steves they made for years. In fact, they are OK, but barely in a few ways. They are black and gray, and fit a bit too snug. You know, they are like cars from the 1970s as compared to cars from the 1950s. No comparison!

Anyway, sometimes, when I am completely bored, like in a Pandemic of epic proportions, I often have bouts of nostalgia, for girlfriends, fishing rods, riding boots, motorcycles...all the ones I loved.

In those moments of wistful reflection I often think, IF I could just find some gloves like those Steves that I have worn out to the point where I sometimes glue little flaps and pieces back on. Those wonderful, comfortable size 8.5 M that are no longer made by the elves who made those really great, black and tan ones I bought at Scuderia in 1998.

Ok, so in one of those moments last week, I opened my favorite search engines and put my best Boolean logic to work, and lo and behold, on the very first page of results, on Ebay, were a "Vintage" era pair of black and tan Held Steves, for sale, brand new, with the tags!

Needless to say, today, they are mine, all mine. And they feel just right!

I take back everything all the negative stuff I've been saying about stuff like this.

Did they have some 9.5s?

How does a size 10 compare to L or XL? I'm pretty sure my Held gloves were size XL.

I would love to have a new pair. The two pairs I have are getting pretty worn and the tan and black ones have a couple of holes in finger tips. I still wear them anyway.

Scott, those 10's must correspond to the measurement across the palm, at least I am guessing that's right.
The size is on a tag just inside the gauntlet, your old ones may have a numeric size showing if you have the tag.

If your hands are 9.5 to 10.5 " across the palm, they ought to be close. If not, peddle them on BARF Classifieds, I bet someone would want them.

Be aware that the new black and gray gloves are a step down, at least for the money they are not close in overall quality. You would think they should be, but they are lacking.
