Yup. I knew it was really close. It wasn't nearly as big as previous ones, but it was LOUD in my house.

wasn't loud in SF, but yeah "felt it" is why I was posting, because I got startled because I felt it directly from the wooden floor

It got "downgraded" to 3.6

Why does it get loud anyway? Is it the ground ? Or is it the buildings hitting? I remember a loud one a few years back but it reminded me of military planes more than of buildings.

Lil' shimmy down here in southern SF. Felt like my cat was jumping on the couch over & over again, then the windows felt like a hailstorm was hitting.

I'm a few blocks from the center. It felt like a football player ran straight into the wall beside me. Watched and heard the house tick back the other way in a wave from where I was standing to the front door; four discernable pops in rapid succession. That was wild!

Time to brace and bolt..

My experience was very similar. I live right on the Oakland/Piedmont border and I thought for a moment that my 100-year-old house was coming down. I watched the house roll and sway from the couch. From where I was sitting I could see the living room, dining room, and into my freshly repaired and painted lath and plaster kitchen. It was loud, and it seemed to go on forever. I only had one 11x17 framed photo fall off the picture rail, and no new discernible cracks (yet) in my kitchen. Whenever it starts I always wonder "Is this The One?" We were just in our earthquake box the day before rotating out the cat food and oatmeal.
