I'm shopping around for a couple used commercial cargo vans in 2500.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm crazy or the sellers are crazy.

Almost everything is around 150k on the clock and selling for $16k.
Are these things indestructible? How long is the average life for one of these Vans and

at what point,

do which things

start breaking down?

My buddy bought one of these kidnap vans last year. 2000-ish GMC Safari. It's a shorter van with two seats and a sliding door with a window in that door and no windows on other side, windows in the back doors. He put a small mattress in the back and lived in it for six months while he was between housing, kept getting broken into. Van drives well at around 100k miles, six cylinder with 4-speed. I think the price was under $4k.

Their like Pickup Trucks, basic and not sophisticated. That is a good thing less complex means less to go bad. Repairs are basic components like water pump, power steering. BBQ get together with some wrenchers can manage these repairs. 150 k means consumables replaced. A 3 ton jack, impact wrench a case of Beer and Pizza. Autta do a Brake job and shock absorber or Strut replacement.

Oh yeah a Diesel is nice. Mechanically at 150 k its just broken in.
