Deff jelous with all these crab reports. We fished for 3 days straight on the sac River up in walnut grove and managed to only bring in 1 king, and the wife got it of course. Booked with work this week but if any of you want to carpool or plan a trip for next week let me know. I can fit 4 and have a hitch mounted rack for gear and iv got a crab ring too. And anyone able to post a pic of the jetty or half moon bay areas? I don't mind a walk but don't want to walk and walk and be in the wrong area. Greats reports!

Where do I sign up and what do I need to prepare? Would be more than happy to chip in for whatever. :thumbup

Sorry man, I don't check barf that often and didn't see your post. I can't go out this weekend because it's my daughter's birthday but depending on weather and ocean conditions, I may go out again on Saturday 11/22.

We went this last Saturday out of Half Moon Bay and it was downright ridiculous. Three of us with six crab pots pulled in 50-60 legal size crab in less than two hours. Basically as soon as we dropped the sixth pot we went back to the first one and pulled them one by one, although we pulled the first three pots twice... until we realized we would quickly go over the limit so the last three came back on the boat after the first pull. We could only keep 30 (3 limits) so we picked the biggest ones and threw back the rest. We were in 70-75' of water just a few miles south of the harbor and none of the pots were soaked for more than 45 minutes. Squid seems to be the hot ticket for bait.

btw, for those with little kids who can't crack their own crab or if you just want a big bowl of crab, this method works really, really well:

Holy cow, teach me the way! I went out to pacifica pier again, this time at 4am, still only catching throw backs. Maybe I should try HMB next time and climb over them rocks. Do you guys still use a snare off the rocks? Monday I will be going on a rock fish crab combo open charter out of Monterey. It was a travelzoo deal for 49 buck, has anyone else tried them?

How big are the crab and how do they taste? Ive been waiting for crab season before i go back to the boiling crab restaurant in san jose. Anyone else know how some restaurants serve fresh dungeness all year long? Are they caught in mexico during californias off season?

I will be out on a boat Thursday bringing in my limit!

Damn storm stopped us cold. Trying again for the weekend!

If you want cheap crab and don't want to do a lot of work just go out on a boat from the dock that charges per person and you are pretty much guaranteed your limit and then some rock cod.

Your limit on charter boats is 6 crab and the limit on private boats is 10 crab.
btw, commercial season opens this weekend so don't think it's going to be so good forever after those dudes get crabbin'...

Alex lets go sat!! I texted you but maybe you have a new number! Call me

Didn't get your text but I'm out this weekend anyway. Maybe next Saturday.

btw, some older guy died on Sunday when he fell off a boat in HMB but they think he had a heart attack. Another guy also ended up in the water when he fell off the boat and the skipper didn't notice he went overboard but fortunately another boat right behind them saw the guy in the water and picked him up. Hella scary, that's exactly why I insist everybody on my boat actually wears their pfd and I have a PLB clipped to mine.

Fishing and crabbing is awesome but the ocean will take your ass out in a heartbeat if you do stupid shit!
