Groveland, where's that?
Has anyone gotten into this hobby yet?

I was thinking of Parrot PF725100 BeBop Drone.

Well you guys know what I mean....

I'm interested in this from a couple of perspectives:

1. Seems pretty cool hobby.
2. I can document major traffic collisions from the air.

Do you think that anything captured on a personal drone, would be admissible as evidence?

Yep. I just submit it as evidence with the report. Whether the court allows it in or not is a different issue.

1) It is cool especially is scenic Groveland.
2) it would give a different perspective on the road conditions.

PS: You will need to practice a lot for controls and also might consider a POV camera/goggle.

Not to mention the evidence that we can see from the air vs. ground level. Tire friction marks, scrapes and scuffs to the roadway, especially in the event it was a fatal traffic collision.

Are there department rules against using your personal equipment on the job? Can you take your own cell phone photos? Can you keep personal copies?

Just curious more than anything.

A car in space...hmmmm.
You can build your own quadcopter for much less than the Parrot.

Start Small with a LaTrax Alias (most expensive of the toy group but best performing), wltoys v636, Syma X5c, or JJRC H8c and build up your skill.

You'll laugh instead of wanting to kill yourself crashing a trainer first.

Most addicting hobby I've gotten into since I first started racing buggies as a youngun.

GO FORTH!!! :thumbup

Currently building a 250mm FPV racer and 330mm (frame size) quad for filming...

We can, but then that opens up our personal stuff to discovery.

The X4 is good but the video quality really lacks thats a toy (I've got one). Get the Syma x5c or the JJRC H8c its a larger quad for about $20 more with a larger better quality camera.

The Hubsan is really skittish to learn on, the larger quads are much more stable and easier to learn how to turn IMO.

There is a lot of legal mumbo jumbo about this topic here: http://dronelawjournal.com/

For the most part, make sure you are not within 5 miles of an airport, or flying over 400 feet.

See section 336(a)(1) from that link. Recreational use only, supposedly. I'd probably ask a dept legal eagle for blessing, just in case the ACLU or FAA gets a wild hair and it becomes a witch hunt.
