(edited).....I still think the KTM is the bike best suited to him. Unless they want to pay Iker or Petrucci to go away, it can’t happen.

I agree, & remain a believer in my previously stated plan for Dovi -
Red Bull $$ is the key

Money in general is the key for Dovi. He's at the tail end of his career and he's looking for a retirement plan contract. He didn't sign with KTM because he asked for too much money and was too unwilling to negotiate. He'll end up at Aprilia for too much money and ape won't have any money left to develop the bike, but motogp needs backmarkers

What if the Aprilia is not a back-marker bike in the hands of Dovi? What if the bike is not reaching it's full potential because of Asparagus?

Ape has been half assing it since they came back into motogp. We all saw how much hustle suzuki had when they came back, then KTM was like "we're new here but we'll be competing with the Hondas in a year or two" and everyone was like "okay ktm, go back home and have a schnitzel because you're drunk", but then they actually spent the money and put the work in. I just don't see Aprilia being that committed to winning. Like ever.

Brivio all but confirmed this past weekend that Suzuki won't field a satellite team until 2022, so that's out.

Asparagus gets no love but he should. He's been floundering on subpar machinery for years. Aprilia's problem is their inability to go all in on the bike itself, and that most likely comes down to money as usual.

The Aprilia MotoGP team is not a factory team. Gresini works more like an old school satellite team where they get bikes and parts but not a lot of factory technicians or development. There were reports in January of this year that Aprilia will have a full inhouse factory team in 2022 but that hasn't been confirmed. Honda will never stop spending big money in MotoGP so its very unlikely that LCR would jump to another manufacturer, so rule them out as switching to a Suzuki satellite team. And LCR is not looking for riders.

I don't see Dovi being a test rider or development rider. No other factory wants to build what Ducati has built and thats all Dovi has ridden for eight seasons. One would think Dovi has a plan but waiting until long after all the other factory seats are locked up to take a stand against Ducati doesn't look like much of a strategy.

Dovi quipped earlier this year that he was ok taking a year off. The problem with taking a year off is that most anyone signed is on a 2 year deal which really means he's out for 2 years and then try to create a come back on something different. How will Dovi maintain relevancy when the paddock is pretty deep right now in talent and most managers looking at Moto3 for their next rider...
