does it matter that will smith is not going to the oscars? just cause he is not getting one this year.

sad the awards are given for best of (?) so somebody has to get it, just not to those that believe only a special group should get them or a at least a % should.

they are given to those a group of insiders say were the best of (?) for the proceeding year. (part of the vote may be cause of the numbers of people going to watch "that" movie).

and they (the special people) have there own awards show. one where only there included group can win.

(?) = acting, special effects, etc. and how ever many oscars are there now?

i do not watch or even care about this pat my back deal.

actors, effects people, directors, etc know if they are doing good just by looking at all the number$ in there bank account$ and offers to repeat ways to earn more of it.

but i wait till the movie is in the discount bin at walley wourld, used to be late night tv.. was free then.

I haven't had anything to do with the Academy Awards since Ron Howard was ignored as a potential best director nominee for Apollo 13 (whenever that was). Never watched or cared since.

I'm not sure whether the academy gives less weight to African performances or not, but those movies hardly getting anything (think Compton got one) shows poor judgement by the academy

Also the academy's something like 94% white males. So two years in a row of not a single black actor nod, not one, looks pretty bad. Quota or not there was absolutely a few black actors who should have been nominated over some pretty shitty performances by others

For example. While I loved rocky In creed, it was not even close to the performance of edris Elba in beasts of no nation
