Dodge Sprinter camper/toy hauler?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience using a Dodge Sprinter as a camper/toy hauler. I'm interested in getting one in the future, and I drive one at work. It's a decent vehicle, and I'm curious if they work good for hauling around a couple dirt bikes, tools, with a camper space in the front. No pets, no kids, one/two people. I've seen pictures of custom jobs on the internet, I like being able to lock the bikes inside instead of leaving them on a trailer at night.
Any pro's or con's from anyone?

(my apologies if this is the wrong thread, I wasn't sure where to post this)

Thanks!

I don't have one, I've got a couple friends who use them very successfully for two bikes and camping.

Talk to Gwynne (Happy Hornet). They have one and her SO fabricated an awesome rack on the back for hauling bikes. I think he sells the racks.

They are super awesome. I was in a larger one that was fully decked out for bicycles and tools and gear and everything. The head room and what you can do with it is amazing.
I've heard different things about reliability. I'd do a lot more research on that part before buying one.

A friend of mine has a long wheelbase Sprinter with the tall roof. Its all set up to haul motorcycles and camp. He has a platform bed, table, microwave, RV windows and a couple of chairs. He gets 24mpg and the van has been very reliable. I guess he's had for five years or so. He had some of the mods done by Outside Van but didn't go crazy like the ones on the website. Its a great bike hauler and camper.

I want to steal it.

Yeah :thumbup Their set up is the coolest...and if a custom arrangement was wanted...He would be just the guy to do it.

I drive them for work, and put roughly 40,000 miles a year on them. I think they're more reliable than the old Ford van's we had, better fuel mileage, less breakdowns, better electrical system. I read some of the forums you guys sent, and the majority of what I read was positive. Being almost 6 ft, I love the headroom! Being able to stand up straight in the back is awesome.

Thanks for all the great info, I'll keep reading the Sprinter forum.
