Do you own gold as part of your retirement or savings strategy? Do you think owning gold is a good idea or a bad idea?
I own gold and I'll tell you why. It to me is a hedge against inflation. It helps my savings retain it's value. I don't expect to get rich from it. Hers is a gold analogy I like. In the early 19 hundreds you could buy a Ford model T for 15 ounces of gold. Today you can still buy a lot of different Ford cars or trucks for the same 15 ounces of gold.
The types of gold I own are various size gold bars, different gold bullion coins and pre 1933 U.S gold coins bought at a low premium. I keep my gold in a safe.
I do own stocks and bonds to grow my money but I have so much more fun stacking gold. As a child I collected coins and still love the old gold coins that can be purchased for a little above spot gold price now.
Do you like gold? Stack gold? Or is investing in gold a bad idea?
