Do you ever put your sidestand down at stoplights?

I had never seen somebody do this before....

Yes he did have plenty of time because the light crosses San Thomas Expressway.

He put the sidestand down, did some stretching (twists) and just left it down (??)

I never even consider doing that when I'm riding.

I don't do it often, but yeah, on occasion. Most likely at a very long red light like you mentioned.

I put it down occasionally, at long lights / road work. San Tomas/Saratoga light is loooooong.
They are doing road work on 84W, so when traffic is backed up due to one of those guys holding their STOP sign I put it down there too. Hell, yesterday on 84W I had time to put the kickstand down, dismount, take my helmet/gloves off, and have a smoke while waiting. :laughing

Only if there's something I need/want to do where I can't balance the bike at the same time. And only then if I know I'll have enough time to do it.

In other words, it's extremely rare that I'd do that.

Only if the light turns green and the car behind me starts honking immediately. Then I have to get off and ask the driver if there is something he wants to communicate to me.

A couple of times to stretch or get a sip by the 5 minute plus redlight by the Golden Gate bridge and Sausalito.

No, have not done this. Hell, I don't even go into nuetral. I stay in gear, clutch in. That way if I have to scram for any reason, I can.

Weird.

Only to try to trigger the lights (which works at some intersections, not so much at others), after putting my ride in neutral (otherwise it kills the motor).

Under normal circumstances I'm too paranoid to even put my moto in neutral, let along put the kickstand down.

When I need a stretch I pull over.
