do you ever feel sorry for bikes?

like, when you see a bike parked on the street and it's raining, do you ever want to lend a hand? see if they're cold? worry about corrosion but it's not your bike?

do you ever see a crashed bike that was once so beautiful, and want to ask, "was it your fault, or did your person push the front way too hard?"

i personalize bikes. i don't give them names, but i think they all have personalities. i think that i'm crazy for this.

but does anyone feel similar? are you sane?

I always feel bad for bikes parked outside in bad weather, theres a guy up the street that has a 2 car garage packed full of crap and a Harley that sits outside under a cover all winter. I feel really bad for that Harley because winter is a bitch around here.

Yes, I do. When I see a "neglected" bike, I always think "Oh... you poor baby!"... or when I pick up a particularly badly crashed bike, I've been known to sneak a pat to its tank when no one's looking.
When I was a n00b, I dropped my Gixxer at the gas station (foot slipped on some oil). There's a small, dime-sized patch of scuffing on the plastics. Every time I pull the plastics for an oil change or whatever, I see that spot, and I feel so bad I apologize... :(

i occasinoally work in southern calif at a National Guard facility. they have an area where deployed soldiers leve their cars and bikes while over seas. bikes sit in the rain and scorching sun for a year to a year and a half. most are ot covered and it just tears the bikes up. very sad to see.

Yes. I don't have a garage but if I know it will be raining for a few days I take her to my warehouse at work and leave her there. I'm a dork and my bike has a name.

I always give my bikes a female name, mainly because they are like Women, fun as hell to ride but expensive to maintain.:laughing

Unless a bike has an emotional or physical illness, I can`t buy it.

Which is why we have the rescue bike an R1150R :laughing
...and Cheyenne's XR250
.....and some of the Bultacos
........and why the Hornet still rolls
...........and why the Cagiva is under our favorite blankets
..............and why the pristine XJS ragtop is outside

That's what I've said about Siouxsie. She's like a hot chick who knows she's hot.

My sister is babysitting Spoogie for me while I am away, and everyday she sits on him, rubs his tank and scratches him behind the mirrors, and tells him he's pretty. :laughing

That being said, this thread reminds me of this commercial:

Hey, I go outside and pat Siouxsie's tank sometimes at work. Spoogie is a cute name.

Incidentally, I call her cover her blankie and when I cover her I put her to bed. :teeth

Everyone knows that it never rains here in socal. Heat on the other hand, yeah we have that. Damn shame that they don't cover up their vehicles while overseas.

I get that empathic thing about vehicles, boats left in slips unused, planes tied down for years unflown. The strangest, the scooter showroom at A&S in Roseville, all the way at the end where no one shops. It was like a room full of puppies, barking, tails wagging, waiting to run. The last one the '06 Triumph scrambler with 13 miles I test rode for a mile, two months ago, when I didn't have the money yet. dang it, , ,

I rode the bike home yesterday when it was raining so I wiped my bike down before I put the cover on. I felt like a tool and if it had been my bicycle I would have parked it and walked away but I didn't want to ride her hard and put her away wet. :teeth
