DMV Offices Open for Business

Only 25 DMV offices statewide will be open for in-person transactions. On the SF Bay Area they include the DMV licensing center on Senter Road in San Jose, and offices in Concord, Modesto, Oakland (Claremont), Salinas, San Francisco, Santa Rosa and Stockton. Offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays (from 9 a.m. on Wednesdays).

I went to the one in Oakland on Friday around 4pm and the guy told me sorry, appointments only? I just needed to renew my driver license...

Apparently only old appointments (huh?) are being honored.

New appointments cannot be made ....

I couldn't because I got a new address and I am also applying for my real ID for the first time

I'm just going to wait for AAA to start their DMV service back up again.
I have a couple upcoming face-to-face transactions with some registration nightmares that I can continue to procrastinate.
The service AAA provides is damn handy.
