DMV moto test and squidlights....

My buddy bought a new bike. The bike has integrated tailight.

He has his permit and wants to go get his full license in the next few days (he's 38 and was away from bikes a few years). He is in the process of fixing/putting on tailights, as he wants the bike to be legal.

Here's the question:

At the DMV moto test, do they look at the actual stuff on bike like turn signals/reflectors, etc.? Will this hamper him in any way?

Just curious if anyone happens to know....tia.:thumbup

Groveland, where's that?
I rarely hear yes, but it does happen. If they make a stink about it, ask them to cite what authority they have to refuse the test?

I was refused once because I didn't have two mirrors. It's not even in the vehicle code, or at least it wasn't. The DMV stood firm. Asshats.

What recourse do you have if they refuse, non really. Worse yet they let you then fail you on purpose.

Thanks Rel, and the rest of you. :thumbup

Sounds like they shouldn't, but possibly could make it difficult. Sounds like he should just use a different bike for now.

He designed a little sheet metal bracket that he can mount relevant signals/plate/reflector, but his metal guy at work can't do it for a week or two, and he wants his license as he is afraid of being caught out in the dark and wants to ride on freeway.

He has a Street Triple with Daytona forks. It has fairly limited lock and his low speed skilz are a bit rusty and the bike pretty twitchy. I think he should borrow a little dual sport for the test or something.

Anyone local got a beat up dualie in the Lafayette area? He'd kick down beer, money or whatever to borrow it for a few hours!

LOL.

Dude, he would think you are the coolest mo'f*cker in the world because he is totally in love with DRZ's.

If you are really serious, we can make it worth your while.

Laphroaig? Blantons? Case of fill in the blank, hookers and coke?

Ok, not sure I could score the hookers and/or coke. I have no idea where to find either of those. :|

Don't give me that shit, Dave. If my Monster can do it, the Street Triple can do it. :x

Red Power!
I just registered the Shadow and it has all aftermarket parts including a very nasty poo muffler that is MEGA LOUD. They passed it and thought it was the coolest bike they had seen in a long time. Never gave me any issues cause they were only interested in the stickers and VIN numbers.

They needed to get a number off the emissions sticker under the seat but to take the seat off you need to remove two hex bolts. They said screw it and just marked it as missing!

My DMV had me take off the seat, fairings, and tank to see the emissions sticker :(
