Dirty sliding TT goodness at Thunderhill

NCSM

Air Cooled
No ATV's this time

Do they allow quads at the practice, it doesn't specify what you can ride? I'm a lot better at sliding quads =P

And also do you think that track might be too big for a minibike like a KLX140?

HOWEVER!

We have 5 mini divisions. The KLX140 is perfect fun, you be one of many. Come practice to find out. Just change out the rear tire with a trials or dual sport tire (Shinko 16") and you're golden.

Sounds like front knobby OK for all classes:

problem is...I've seen other flyers that say "no knobbies"...would be nice to have some clarification.

I just checked with Brok. Front knobbies are allowed for any class for this weekend's SuperTT. This only applies to the FRONT TIRES.

Class C traction for rear tires.

Anyone racing this weekend may consider pre-registering online HERE. You still pay all entree fees at the track but the pre-register option makes race day morning much smoother because the SupermotoUSA staff will have a good idea of the size of the classes. This allows them to adjust the practice and race schedules accordingly.

Everyone have a good time up there this weekend. So bummed I can't make it. This new track looks fantastic. Going to be huge fun.

I see the Saturday TT trackday is 1pm to 5pm but open at 10am. Will bikes be on track between 10am and 1pm?

I’m planning to bring my Husqvarna SMR. I plan to run rains, remove the mirrors unplug lights and put on hand guards. Do I need anything else?

I’m thinking B group or even C group is best for my skill level. I’ve only been on knobbies in dirt.

Practice is 1pm - 5pm. Gates open earlier but I believe staff will still be setting up and performing track prep in the hours before practice.

The 2017 rulebook: http://supermotousa.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/AMA-_SMWest_2017_rulebook.pdf indicates that you need to tape the lights and remove the kickstand, and swap for water/wetter (vs antifreeze).

The web site: http://supermotousa.com/rules-and-regulations/ says that safety wire and catch can are optional while the rulebook above says they're mandatory.

I don't know if there are rule differences for SMUSA TT vs normal SMUSA.

Will the water wetter, safety wire, and catch can rules, be in effect for the TT Day?

I just wanna ride for the practice day and give the dirt track a try.

The following is speculative and should by no means be taken as representative of SupermotoUSA in any way, shape or form.

I don't know about the surface of this track so take this with a grain of salt. If its hardens into a blue groove in places, it will be very important to make sure nothing is draining or leaking on to the track surface. If the surface is a cushion, which seems likely (Oh Lordy in Heaven, please let it be a cushion) fluids have less impact. I would still expect the jumps to be pretty hard packed unlike an MX track. SupermotoUSA can be forgiving in tech for first timers if it appears you have made some effort to prep your bike. A dab of silicon sealant on any drain plug or filler cap is a good idea for first timers if you don't drill or safety wire.

That said, its always the riders responsibility to bring a safe bike to the track meaning all bolts and nuts are tightened correctly, controls are working properly and nothing is going to fall off or present a danger to yourself or others.

Again, this is my opinion and does not represent the views of SupermotoUSA or anyone else.
