Did a SF to Leggett and back loop earlier this week. First time this season for me. Weather was perfect.

Couple FYIs that has changed after the El Nino/2015

South of Tomales has some flooding covering the road.

Many of the hairpins at the bottom of the little gorges have slide remnants. Caltrans has cleaned them, but they are still pretty dirty. Keep an eye out.

The cable trench/seam/tar-snake thing that is smack in the middle of the road going North near Timber Cove was dug up and re-paved again. Thankfully it isn't the giant tar snake it was last year, so improvement there.

Bones Roadhouse is closed in Gualalalalala:

South of Westport there are two patches of gravel that cover the entire road for a good 20-30 feet. They aren't on turns, but keep an eye out.

22 mile section is noticeably worse than last year IMO. The surface is coming up so there are some fresh pot holes and loose gravel. Take it easy your first time through this season, the road took a beating this winter.

Happy Highway 1 riding.

Bones Roadhouse in Gualala closed, booo :(

That perfectly twisty 22 mile section leading to Leggett is one of my favorites. Sad to hear the pavement is coming apart.

Love that pic of the ocean where Hwy1 turns inland to Leggett. I always take a pic there.

Always a bit of a shock when I open a post and see my old bike as the centerfold picture. I'm glad you seem to be riding the wheels off my old steed OVerlordI

how many miles on your original stator?

A little over 15k.

However, I think I have it solved permanently (cross fingers).

1. Replaced stator
2. Replaced regulator with series type regulator, excess power no longer grounded to stator (less heat)
3. Added Oil diversion mod, to route more oil to the stator to reduce heat even further

You can find some more details on the oil diversion mod here:
http://t12tech.com/products/aprilia-rsvr.html

In summary:
With standard regulator (and 500W rotor) the temp. stays around 170C°
With oil mod it goes down to about 140/150C°
But when you install the series regulator the stator runs at about 130/140C and with oil mod goes down to 115C.

Just did SF to Eureka Wednesday. It was good. Cold first half to fort Bragg

I did this ride on Tuesday. It was 40F in Point Reyes station that morning. I was a definitely not prepared for it to be that cold.

Haha, hello good sir. Hope to see you later this year.
