Damage from frame slider

I had a tumble on my triumph last night on the way home. The bike looked and felt ok at the time, with a frame slider and bar end taking most of the damage, so I took it home on side streets. I started to examine the bike more closely once I got home, and the damage looked pretty minor until I took off the damaged frame slider and found this:

Apparently, the slider and bolt ripped apart one of the engine mount holes in the frame. The bolt was pretty bent from the crash, but the pic doesn't show that very well.
Is there a way that something like this can be repaired or am I SOL? Worst case, I'll probably just part out the bike.

I dont think you need that motor mount anyways... just ride her as is :twofinger

J/k of course... looks like you may need to either have a new mount fabricated and welded up or find a donor frame to cut that mount from and have that welded up

Either way.. not such a simple fix

I'm scareoused!
KHL, if insurance takes a look at your bike, it's totaled.

Now, I'm not a welder, but in my estimation, fixing your bike proper will require replacing the frame. If it is possible to do a weld job, you'll still have to drop the motor, radiator, exhaust, tripples, and signals to get access. That's not a cheap or quick project.

Sorry to hear about this. I hope a more experienced mechanic can offer better news.

That is a total if insured. People don't understand that frame sliders can do serious damage.....

If it were my bike, and not insured, I would pull the motor and have GP or RPM weld up a a new boss.

Makes me wanna pull my sliders. They came with the bike but then again I don't crash much anyway.

NEED DECALS? PM ME!!!!
people always question why i dont run frame slider's, and it's for this simple reason they destroy frames. it doesnt happen everytime but it has been happening alot lately. im actually looking at racerails from racing 905 now as it has 2 attachment points and uses rubber dampners to keep the shock off the frame:thumbup

Thanks for all the input. Haven't decided what to do yet, but you've given me more stuff to think about.

Very common.... Havve totalled a few bikes out from that...

Frame sliders are a double edge sword..... What do they really accomplish having them...you fall...you still damage your farings with or without the sliders...
I've had people tell me that they protect the motor in a crash, yet, I have inspected bikes where the slider had bent over & punctured the case, wouldn't of happen if it wasn't there....

Others have told me they protect the frame...Yet, as you've shown, not so...Sure you may have prevented scratching the paint on the frame with the slider in place, but, without it you would not have a broken frame/motor mount...Whats worse IYO...?
