Custom safety glass windshield

Hey all,

I'm in the middle of a kit car build and just realized I need a custom piece of safety glass cut to satisfy BAR requirement. Apparently kit cars have been passed for years without this rule being enforced but someone at the DMV looked out the window this week at the rain and decided safety glass and wipers was a necessary thing now.

Anyways, I have a template, and the glass should flat / straight without any crazy curvature.

Anyone here does this type of stuff or can recommend a shop?

Thanks

Long time ago (1970) I made a street legal VW tube rail dune buggy*. Made an angle iron frame and Stockton Auto Glass made a flat windshield with a DOT stamp on the corner. They mounted it with a special rubber that held the glass to the 1/8" angle. Try a local auto glass shop.

*Got stopped by LEO 3 times driving to JC with that buggy.

is the windshield patterned from an existing car, or is it designed to be cut down from one?

this requirement hurdle is why many many many kit cars don't mess with the A pillar of the donor car nabling the stock windshield to be retained... back in the day when i knew about such things, there were countach replicas that required a genuine lambo windshield

i don't know of a place but in palo alto there is Franciscian Glass, think stained glass and residential/commercial stuff mostly. they might have a lead, they've been in business forever.

Thanks, this is another out of state builder's finished windshield. I basically am buying the black frame part of it and will need to get the same glass portion created / cut. I'll have the pattern but its not from any existing production car.
