Custom Bike w/upgrades Insurance question

Godsdarling

Smile & Wave for me!
I bought a 2016 Roadking this weekend, trying to add it to my existing Geico policy, but it has 13k in upgrades that I want covered. Tried to add it online as usual on Sunday and got a message it requires special handling and will get me a quote within 48 hours. It is now Thursday! I called yesterday and they said they are still working on it. They did quote me $274 for the year without covering the upgrades. I kinda need all the chrome covered :laughing

1. Is adding a bike with upgrades normally an issue?
2. Anyone know what I should be looking to pay with covering the upgrades?

Should this be moved to General? :laughing

I suggest contacting some of the custom bike manufacturers like big dog and Arlen Ness used to be. I'm not familiar with current custom bike manufacturers. They should have some good leads for insuring customer bikes.

I have a policy with Foremost through AIS and they just ask how much coverage I want for custom/add-on parts. I give them a dollar amount and they give me a price. It's not much different than an agreed upon replacement value, should be simple.
